East Orlando (for sale, income, house)

East Greator Orlando is not Ghetto. Out toward old Union Park and Bithlo is white trashville, but other than that area (which is shrinking) much of East Orlando is pretty decent.

Now, there is a Spanish area of East Orlando (Azalia Park), south of 50 along 436 that could be considered a Spanish ghetto.

The link you posted is for all of Orlando. You post about misleading stats, but your doing the exact same thing. You can't rip into East Orlando then show stats on the entire city of Orlando. Folks, when it comes to crime, both zipcodes have the same score for Violent crimes...but when it comes to Property Crimes...you have more chances of being a victim in Lake Mary then in East Orlando. Check the stats under crime. East Orlando is less.

East Orlando also has a larger statistics of marriages with children. One could assume that East Orlando is more "Family Oriented." Look at the divorce rate, Lake Mary Zip is higher.

When it comes to homes, East Orlando median price is lower then LM and our homes are newer, we also have less rentals in comparison, and we all know that having owners then renters is much better for a community.

The chart also shows that the overall cost of living is less then Lake Mary.

Lastly look at the economy, guess which area has a higher household income...East Orlando.

This post isnt a "my area is better then yours," I just want to show the reader that some postings on this site about where we live is way off the mark. Lake Mary has some positives that are better then East Orlando but if you want to get the full picture, then do your research.

Hopefully NG will have enough reasoning to see that maybe he is a little more jaded on his opinion about East Orlando. But then again, you can only lead a horse to water...

Oh man, I agree. The farther East you go in East Orlando, the nicer it gets. But it also becomes increasingly expensive. I am not sure most regular people working white collar jobs can afford to even rent in the area.

But if you head north (Union Park, Colonial), south (Conway, Hoffman, etc) , or west (Goldenrod, Curry Ford, Semoran blvd, Lake Underhill, Dean rd, etc), you will be in straight trailer trash ghettos or inner-city projects. Very bad.

Bithlo is so disgusting, I don't think there is 1 single house built on the ground. It is all trailers and all trailer have white smoke coming out of them. That is because when they cook meth, there is a ton of smoke.

Semoran and Azelia is going to secceed from the Union and join Mexico. All billbiards, doctors, restaurants, banks, or whatever... all in Espanol. Go to that K-Mart on the corner of Semoran and everyone will speak Spanish, no English. Even the radio on the stores you go to in that area will be Spanish radio station.

Bithlo isn't as bad as it used to be, but it is still Orlando's Junk Yard Capital. Yes, there are some old trailor parks out there, but beyond that, its more or less just country land.

Bithlo is getting "attacked" with new development from the north by Geneva, which is actually pretty nice, and there are some new businesses going in out there that aren't junk yards. I was just out there last week.

I just want to comment that it is extremely humorous how the same person resurrects himself over and over again. I guess you could call this person a serial slammer. I'd hate to sit in that chair with that pessimistic, blackened stare. Must have been a tough child hood.

I live in that "terrible" area too. Every house that has gone up for sale in our street has sold within 60 days. We were fortunate to land here. When I was doing research about where to buy in Orlando, to buy a home in the Conway area was a huge prize.

Pigsty, thank you for your post. The following is the same experience we have in our community in East Orlando. Just add Jewish, Muslim, German, Islanders, British, Korean, Chinese, Indian (from India) and we live in this great melting pot. Isn't that what America was all about anyway?

I live in East Orlando in a half million dollar home with no problems, in a cul-de-sac with eight homes where my neighbors are dutch, black, brazilian, White Anglo, Italian (from Italy), and Latino and we all get along well and there is always one of them at my house eating, playing with our kids or we are all outside.
