As others have said, there are pockets of nice homes in any area, this one included, some are even lakefront, but on the whole I doubt you'd be really happy there. It's right off "the trail", i.e., So. Orange Blossom Trail where you may encounter all types...including hookers openly plying their trade. And the traffic is really heavy almost all the time.
Oh, that sounds like Pam's Purple Door in Deadwood. Although I don't know if it's still there or not. Is there violent crime in the Orange Blossom Trail area or is it just a lower class area?

Carol, Florida Gator??? We had a boy from our town who got a scholarship and played basketball down there. He even got to play for Orlando Magic for a couple years, but plays for the Grizzlies now. I used to watch him practice in the gym night after night since he was in middle school.

There's a lot of bad stuff on SOBT and the usual that leads to more crime...drugs, booze, hookers, drugs, cheap hotels, drugs. So yes, there's crime on the trail and in the general area. I wouldn't want to be in the area at night. And keep your car doors locked while you're driving.

Well, Jammie, that just shows it's still a small world!

Let me clarify then - Tangelo park is in 32819 is the biggest area of concern in this zip code. I have been in this area recently and have seen an improvement thanks to investors but it is still a far cry from anything where it should and could be. Sorry I can't make this area code smaller to exclude the Dr. Phillips area but it I were to seperate it by 1-4 I would definatly put the east side on the list of "undesireable" areas.

Here is the link to City-data's information on Tangelo Park. http://www.city-data.com/city/Tangelo-Park-Florida.html it does not include crime stats (maybe someone else can find that??)

32839 - John Young and OBT areas.

32818 - Silver Star Road and NORTH Hiawassee road (this area is true inter-city ghetto)

32814 - Semoran

32809 - Landstreet road, Orange Ave, South OBT

32822 - Goldenrod road, Old Cheney Hwy - this area is the absolute pits

32814 - Colonial area

32808 - Includes Pine Hills (aka. Crime Hills)

32807 - downtown Orlando, close to Paramore (inter-city ghetto).

32819 - Tangelo Park (gangland)

32771 - VA Fury already put it here, but that is the Sanford bad areas (very large area).

Don't discount entire zipcodes based on a poster. 32771 has some very good areas.

Every time I've moved, I've gone to the local police station and got crime stats and talked to neighbors before signing the contract. It's worked well for me since I purchased my first home in the early 70s.
