Hello,
To everyone. What a great site! I will try to make it simple.
I have lived here on the Cape Cod Ma for the last twenty years. Its time for a change. I am originally from Dublin Ireland. So I would say that that I could
almost live anywhere. City or rural. My question is if you had the opportunity
to move to Orlando which I loved very much Windermere all that area, or
Bangor Maine? I have a seven year daughter which I want the
best quality life for her. Maine I have a brother doing really well. Job would be no problem. The winter scares me a bit. Orlando no family but really loved the
weather. The two are very different from each other which would you
choose. Really would love your opinions? Thanks a million!

I am from Hampden Maine-20 min. from Bangor, and my parents still work in Bangor. I love Maine in the summer, but the winters were horrible beyond belief. i moved there at 14, and was gone at 18. it got pitch black dark at 3:30 in the afternoon, and there was nothing to do. it's one thing to hang out and watch a dvd at home because you want to, versus you have to because you can't go outside. if i had the money, i'd live up in Maine in the summer, but live here in the winter. maine is a very safe environment to raise kids, you can run into the grocery store with your keys in the ignition and car running, don't have to worry about locking your doors, everyone is super friendly and hard working, but it's the weather that was the problem for me. You should take a trip into Bangor in Jan. or February and see what you think before moving there. Also flights in and out of Bangor are extrememly expensive.

No way would I move to Maine. WHY? It's bitter cold there most of the year. Can't swim in the ocean up there, can't hardly go outside ever!

I guess if you like to live in Alaska like conditions most of the year, than Maine would be for you. Personally, I can't imagine ever moving north of the Mason-Dixon line; probably not even further north than Georgia.

They are so different, it just depends on what you want. I love ME but I don't think I could take a winter there.

You have to figure out what is more important to you... weather or being with family. You can find quality of life no matter where you live. But... if it were me... I'd probably take the warm weather in FL and take trips to Maine in the summer or fall.
