Great site! I am starting to investigate moving back to Florida from Oklahoma. I lived in Palm Bay until 97. I have children in Melbourne and Clearwater so I am looking to move somewhere in between. My time frame is 4-9 years, but I figure I would start the elimination process early. I could see moving as far north as about Eustis, south Lake Wales, east Orlando and west Clermont. I would be looking for a 2 bedroom condo, probably 900-1100 sq ft.

The area has blossomed alot since 97, you will prolly find great places in all those areas you mentioned. you gotta be more specific of what you want in your community.

There are brand new townhomes being built in a new 55+ community in Clermont, Heritage Hills. It's off Hancock. Might be a good place to look if you fit that age group (which by your post I'm assuiming you do.)

I was thinking the same thing. Please be more specific as to if you'll be working, what you like to do, what you like to be close to. More rural, suburbs or city? Price range?

I guess that was a little vague. I would like to stay under 100k. Like everyone else I am looking for a low crime area(part of the reason I am starting so early). I am not planning on working, unless something dropped in my lap. I am 62 and single, in good health, but I wouldn't want to be a large distance from a good hospital. Orlando - Kissimmee might be a little too busy for my taste.

You might want to try Mt Dora. It has folks your age and nice small town feel with conveniences close by.

Well I told everybody I was going to go with a condo, but after seeing the ridiculus fees I am changing my thinking. I am quite capable of doing my own maintenance. Now I am looking into a small house, 2bdrm and maybe around 1000 sq ft., but not a mobile home. I really have no need for more space so why buy a bigger place.

Beckycat, yes I am strongly investigating the smaller towns in the area in Lake County right now. What other county in the Central Florida area do people recommend? This is a great site and I am bookmarking cities for latter review.
