Smile Moving to Orlando, in need of suggestions please...

I am looking at transitioning to Orlando area from coastal Georgia. My job will be in the Florida Mall area and I am married with four small children - - ages 1-7 (into sports and performing arts). Safety, security and schools are important. Looking to stay between $300K and $600K for a new home. Any suggestions? I appreciate any assistance in advance!

We have spent much time in the area.

Rgrds.

In that price range you can live almost anywhere except for maybe Isleworth, Lake Butler Sound, Bella Colina, and parts of Heathrow.

The problem is getting into a place with good schools that is also a reasonable commute to your job.

I would probably start my search in Dr. Phillips or Windermere. The other place to look would be Lake Nona which is newere and very up-and-coming.

^^^ I had a good neighbor that left Orlando (Avalon Pk) a few months ago. Just left, foreclosed on his house, and moved out of state. His reason, I later found out, was that he "didnt want to raise his kids here in Orlando." Now obviously, I'm not a fan of Orlando anymore, due to all the changes, but I dont think it is so bad that it would be the one of the worst places to raise a family, behind only Miami and Detroit.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe Orlando is one of the worst places to raise a family. There are so many great area's, great school districts, Every magazine or research report will be different depending on what factors are used, what area's are compared and where they get their stats from. I put little stock in that article, Couldn't even find what their criterion for ranking the cities are from the link provided.

Anyway.....Annerk is right on, To stay close to where you will be working your best bet will be to check out the Dr. Phillips and Bay Hill area, Lake Nona, and you MAY want to see what belle Isle has to offer, but IMO the other two area's offer more properties to choose from that would be ideal.
