Is Orlando really worse than Miami? I've lived both places
only comment if you have lived in both places please
I have lived in Miami and Orlando and i have seen crime in both places. I was robbed at gunpoint in Altamonte Springs. I saw someone get thier car stolen AT A 7-11 IN oRLANDO but thats because some dip**** left it running while he went in thstore (that is never seen in miami...guarenteed).
in Miami we used to have kids that drove around my neighborhood and get out of thier car and just rob random people and then beat or shoot them in the Carol City area and i saw the trophy case of my highschool broken by fighting many times and some guy got thrown thru Little Ceasar's pizza window in a gang fight at lunch time in my highschool in Miami. security at the highscool sold drugs too. this was back in the early 90's when i lived there.
I have been in Orlando for about 7 years now and have seen some things. Some were bad but others could have been prevented if people here took more precautions...Crime happens more in Orlando because people here in Orlando don't take precautions as much as in Miami. Miami has tons more houses with bars on thier windows and people do not ever leave thier car running at a gas station in Miami and most cars down there have auto theft systems and people still break into cars and houses down there with all the protection.
The guy that robbed me in Orlando at the 7-11 in Altamonte got me cuz i had my guard down but if i was in Miami my gaurd would always be up and they will still rob you...so i think that Orlando-poinciana have problems cuz alot of people dont keep thier guard up as much.
I love both places and no matter where you go you will find trouble if u put yourself around bad people but please don't think since the crime is more now in orlando than in miami that it means that one place is worse than the other because i swear that i really dont see as many bars on house windows here as there are in miami and that was miami in the 90's...where is the protection from someone breaking in up here?....alarms dont stop someone from coming in and leaving a window cracked is a sign that you wanna get robbed too and i see that all over Orlando ....go to Miami and guarenteed you won't see that kind of mistakes.
What is really worse ? and if you can prove me wrong then more power too ya but i can come up with more people that know to be cautious from Miami than i can from Orlando without them reading this post before they decide they are more cautious........Remember that Miami already learned the leasons in the 80's that orlando is starting to learn now

Good post and absolutely NO, Orlando is not worse than Miami. IMO even the worst areas of Orlando can not compare to all of the "bad" areas of Miami. I think anyone from Miami would laugh if someone said Orlando was worse than Miami. I think most of the crime here is not random (either "provoked" or domestic) and that is not the case in Miami from what you wrote and from what I have heard. If it were, I would not be raising my children here.

I'd say overall, miami is 'worse' than orlando. it's just that orlando has experienced a sudden spike in violent crime over the last few years that is drawing all the attention to it.
and yes, i've lived both places.

I haven't lived in both places, but spent enough time in Miami to say emphaticaly NO!
I wouldn't live in Miami for anything! Like I've said before, life's too short. It would be like living in a third world prison to me. I've never liked going there to visit - just a big, dirty, third-world city.

Raised in Miami and later moved here to Orlando. Orlando is Shangri-La when compared to Miami. Miami has much more problems with drug cartels, and fraud. In fact, Miami is the #2 city for fraud in the U.S., some sites list it as #1. Either way it is bad.
I think the people who bad mouth Orlando as being crime infested have never lived in a big city. IMO, this place is paradise. It has it's problem but so does every city. If it ever get's to be compatiable like Miami, then I am moving to an Amish Community...

Miami is definitely worse than Orlando by far is many aspects. Well like someone said earlier in this post, most of the crime in Orlando is either provoked or domestic or drug related. As long as you are not involved in any of those, you will be fine. Miami is much much more expensive than Orlando by far. So that takes care of crime and cost of living. Ummmm, lets see what else, of traffic and population. Ok, Interstate 4 is nothing compared to driving on 95 down there, the 826 (Palmetto Expressway) or the 836 (Dolphin Expressway). Miami is much more overcrowded compared to Orlando. Miami is pretty much well established and sorry to say, "used up" while Orlando is still growing and has the potential to hopefully make a turnaround.
