my understanding is 1.8-2 % also if homestead (Primary residence) is attained taxes can not be raised by more than 3% a year also there is a an amount discount on assessment with homestead, so for $100,000 taxes would be about $1,800 yearly

Property taxes vary. Some qualify for a homestead exemption which will help. Value is set by actual sales of similar properties within the tax year. County tax officials are generally decent people who will help when asked. SO call and ask them, don't work with rumor.

You can check actual taxes yourself. IT"S EASY. Simply write down the address of a similar property. Google the County Tax Collector web site, type in the address and see what the actual taxes are. Realtors are generally misinformed Moderator cut: no advertising

And people from GA don't understand the way property taxes work in FL, or they wouldn't be giving BAD ADVICE like the above.

(I'm not a Realtor nor am I in any way involved in Real Estate.)
