We have been seriously thinkin about moving from the middle of nowhere KS to Kissimmee FL..my husband is very talented in Golf and wants to attend golf school...I have a daycare so I am thinking about opening one there....What are the pro's and con's about it...we have NEVer been there but have been looking on the internet about it..have seen some very nice houses for cheap...houses that would be 250k here in Ks for 120k there...is there a catch of why there so cheap? Please tell me more...we have 2 daughters which will be goin to elementary school, so how are the schools there? Is there a lot to do in the community? We need somethin different and warmer....let me know more please! thanks!

I wouldn't put my kids into Osceola schools. If you don't speak Spanish you'll have a hard time opening a day care in Kissimmee. Houses are cheap for a reason. The majority of Kissimme and Poinciana are NOT a desirable place to live.

Lots of people are talented at golf or whatever, 99.999% of them can't make a living at it. In other words don't quit your day job.

Why Kissimmee? There are tons of better areas to live in the metro Orlando area.

Actually, I live in Kissimmee, and there are LOTS of very nice places to live. If you move to the downtown area, maybe not so much. However, there are some very nice rural areas if that's your thing. However, I agree as far as Osceola schools. I also agree there are better places to live. I mean, you can find nice areas in Kissimmee, but the problem is you have to FIND them.

Forget Kissimmee , I have been living here 25 years and if you don't speak spanish , forget it . Schools suck ..glad my kids are out . Try seminole county ..in central florida but a little north of here . lake mary . altamonte springs . They are even a little to populated for me . there are many smaller outlying areas (semi rural) in florida that still have that small town touch . winter haven, lady lake, frostproof ... many nice smaller towns . kissimmeee is a "no go" on my list , its going down hill . Good luck to you and your family !!

Default Don't go to kissimmee unless you speak spanish.

Consider Champions gate if you are looking for a small community. Its clean and new It has two newer Golf Courses, its convienent to all shopping. It has a professional golf school. No crime, no ghetto, and it close to all theme parks. Prices are reasonable. Its a growing community on the edge of Orlando. Ok as far as schools LOOK FOR A PRIVATE SCHOOL. I'm not a fan of the public school system.

I agree too, especially about the spanish speaking part. I'd stay away from Kissimmee. It looks like a big carnival lining the streets.

I want to know why Poinciana and kissimmee are not desirable places to live? I just bought a house in poinciana and I was told it was a very nice neighbourhood. Now I will not be moving to Florida as it will be a vacation home. What should I expect?

It's generally a "low rent" area. Lot's of foreclosures (TONS of them!) and as a result a lot of the stuff that comes with empty neighborhoods. Everything from burglaries to squatters to grafitti to unkempt property. Many of the HOA's are underwater because people aren't paying dues. Lots of renters, lots of all but abandoned "vacation homes." Just not desirable save a very few small pockets of expensive homes.
