Default Royal Harbor, 55+ near Orlando

We are still trying to find our place in a 55+ community. Does anyone know anything about Royal Harbor in Taveres? The resales look good but when I checked the activities calendar, it didn't look like much was going on.

One thing I can tell you about Royal Harbor, it's in the middle of no where, and just getting a gallon of milk is a two mile drive away. Getting actual groceries is a good five miles.

Default 55+ NOT in the middle of nowhere?

Thanks for that information. That is exactly what we are not looking for. Any suggestions on a 55+ community near a small town as well as not more than 1 hour from Orlando?

I'd look in Mt. Dora and Clermont, there are several in those towns.

Had to backtrack to see just what you were wanting in a 55+ community but if you're looking for a bit of nightlife, The Villages has nightly entertainment in their squares - they're a bit further than an hour from Orlando but you might want to check it out.

I know that Kings Ridge in Clermont has a full schedule of activities morning, afternoon, and evening every day as well.

Thanks for the information. We did check out The Villages but felt it was too far out. Is anyone familiar with Leesburg? I saw information on Legacy, Heritage and The Plantation. We really do like Mount Dora and Leesburg seems to be in the same general area. Lakes of Mount Dora was really nice but they seem to be in some financial difficulty. Thanks again - Penelope

Default The Villages

Do a search on the web for "the villages IRS" and read what comes up. There are some serious tax problems there that need to be resolved.

Default 55+ community

You should check out Solivita in Poinciana. Never thought I'd wind up living in this part of Florida, but the amenities here are great. We have been here for 3 years. You can be busy all day long if that's what you want. We looked at a lot of adult communities all around Florida; none were as physically beautiful as Solivita with so much to do. Even though it is out of the way, it's a short trip to Disney and Celebration. There are also some really good restaurants in downtown Kissimmee, a l5 minute drive from here.
