And yes, I totally agree that the majority of sex offenders in this country are white and I would not want my children anywhere near a neighborhood that has sex offenders living (White, black, spanish, or whatever race they are). Just like I would not want my children near a neighborhood where the personal crime indexes are 2-3 times higher than the national average. And yes, that’s a lot of neighborhoods in Florida, and yes out of a lot of those neighborhoods in Florida there is a higher percentage of minorities living in these areas than the areas with lower personal crime indexes. I am going by numbers just like you are.
Bottom line is I would not want to live in Poinciana, just like I would not want to live in New Port Richey.

I am not trying to turn this into a tug a war, and yes the jails are full with Hispanics and blacks. But can we run a stat on how many whites should be in jail and got away with a crime?? The bottom line is that there is always a finger pointing at PR and there are over 25 Spanish countries that have residents in the USA. Or, should I call all Italians Mobsters just because a few were?? Or call Germans communist because of their past,, lets not be Ignorant and realize that there is good and bad everywhere. Unfortunately the rest of us don't have the resources whites do, nor we are given the same opportunities even when we can do the job better, believe me I know. But with all that I am not going to point the finger at every white out there because then I will be pointing at some real good people, people that are my friends, there is good and bad everywhere. If you do not like Poinciana because there are some Hispanics there than don't move there but don't kill every good family for what a few do.
Smile man we all have to live here....

why is that the WHITES always come up as "Suppressing" the rest...No get out there and do the job, if your smart enough then it should not be a issue, I know PLENTY of Hispanics that have better jobs and or Postions then their white counter part..because ya know why THEY ARE better qualified...Not because its a white black hispanic issuee and we need to have w black or hispanic in the position so that the ACLU does;nt come down on us! its because they worked their butts off to get there .. its all about work ethic.. not Ethnitcity@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Agreed. After all, this is the Orlando area, not New Hampshire or somthing.
I have lived in New York, Connecticut, California, and here in Florida. I have NEVER seen more diverse neighborhoods and workforce than I have seen here in Orlando. More minorities here live in more expensive homes, have better jobs, than anywhere I have seen where I lived in the past. If there are minorities that are trouble makers here, it's NOT the fault of anyone but there OWN.

Hi,
traffic in Poinciana is pretty bad only during rush hour. At normal hours, it's fine really.
The toll road has not yet started, and the final design is not fully known yet. It will connect Poinciana to the I-4. Hopefully sometime in 2009.

Poinciana Connection to I-4
It was announced at the Poinciana annual Community Update in October 2007 that the toll road was delayed because planners had to go back to the table to re-design some portion of it due to the fact that it is going over and near a very sensitive preservation area. The road will start at the northmost end of Marigold Avenue and will be connected to I-4 via the John Young Parkway (Rts. 17 & 92) area near Champions Gate. Groundbreaking took place late last year and, for now, it is expected to be completed within the next two to five years.

Thanks for the info! I wonder how much they are going to charge for it. I bet they can get an arm and a leg because the need by 2009-2010 will be crazy. However, like other posters said, it really isn't to bad unless its in rush hours but I think that's when most use the roads

Poinciana Hospital
http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/s...=et70&ana=e_du
"Osceola Regional Medical Center received state permission on Dec. 14 to build a $113.9 million hospital in Poinciana."
This is a 120 bed hospital to be located at Marigold and Cypress Parkway, across from Solivita.
HMA has until early January to appeal the decision. They have opposed a hospital in the past saying that Poinciana does not need it's own hospital.
Since the nearest hospital is a considerable distance in downtown Kissimmee, I hope they don't appeal and let the hospital be built.

Poinciana crime is well-managed and controlled. Poinciana, which spans across two counties, brings together the strength of two Sheriff's offices, one in Polk and the other from Osceola. These two department's are highly cooperative with each other and do a fantastic job with keeping the small-town feel of safety in Poinciana. I say, "Three cheers to the sheriff's.

Idea for Poinciana
I can't seem to start a new thread on City-Data but have an idea of starting something that'll benefit a lot of Poinciana residents. Can anyone tell me how to create a new post for a new thread?
