You seem to be someone who is either currently working for Disney or worked for them in the past... and are very unhappy with it.

I should also point out that the houses my husband and I have been looking at are only around 150 - 200 dollars more a month in rent than we pay now. We live very comfortably here with his hourly salary (around the same that Disney starts out) and I don't work full time currently due to school. I would be looking at full time once we got down there.

Also: I don't seen the problem with I-4 and never really have. Large interstates don't really intimidate me.
huh....that is funny!

never ever would i work for disney and thank god i don't have to but my mother in-law is a cast member. she makes squat but i guess she is lying to me.

i wasn't trying to intimidate you but rather inform about the traffic on I-4 which is backed up every day for extended amount of time in that very area.

LOL you make working for Disney sound like a punishment. I'm sorry you feel that way. Because obviously people wouldn't work there because they have love for Disney, or want to share the magic they've experienced with Disney in the past right?

Considering both my husband and I make SQUAT up here where we live now (Ohio, one of the biggest unemployment states in the country) I'd say making squat somewhere we were happy would be a better trade off, wouldn't you?

Nearly every cast member I've talked to that's full time has told me that if you're ambitious enough and want it enough it's not as hard to move up in the company as it is in some other companies, and overtime is not hard to get if you want it.

We don't want to work for Disney because we "have to". We want to work for Disney because we see the opportunity there and want to share our love for Disney with others. And I think that's okay. When I posted here I wanted to know what the rental of houses in the area I specified was like, and the prices. Not a lecture on whether or not we can raise a family on Disney pay. A lot can happen in two years.

I don't have any info on disney work, but I think you'd be able to live in kissimmee for 1,000/mo. Obviously not the greatest of places, but you'd find something for a few years. Just do your research on the area, maybe even visit the area once or twice. Do things you might not think of like going to the nearest grocery store several times during the day/weekends. Drive around when school lets out and see what's going on.

People bash orlando because of how much they are losing on their homes right now. No one was complaining in 05.

YOu will like it here more than ohio, that much I can pretty much guarantee.

I don't own a home here. I rent in Thornton Park. People's opinions, dislikes, and experiences are not bashing.

Have a nice day!

Default I hate to inform you seriously though

The school system just about anywhere right now is pretty bad, believe me I have researched on this matter for the last year and a half on moving and relocating to a different state and city from where I am now Jacksonville Florida and it seems to me as if I would be jumping out of the hot pan into the fryer

UNQUOTE

Don't think that the only cost of maintaining a home is the mortgage. It's that
$150-200 plus a lot more for things that you don't pay when renting. Consider it carefully on a small budget.

Talking Considering moving in or around Orlando

Me, my fiance', and 6 year old son are considering moving to orlando and need advice from locals. Here is my situation. I currently live in memphis, tn. WE HATE IT!!!!! I have lived here 26 years and it sucks. In case you didn't know it is the Murder Capitol hands down. We have several murders a night. People here will kill you for the stupidest crap. There is nothing here to do. The people are extremely ghetto. Our local government are nothing but crooks. The school system is Horrible. The kids are out of control. Anyways I want to move to Florida b/c of the warm weather and all the family stuff to do. Please give me advice. I am a respiratory therapist who currently works at the childrens hospital and I am sure I could find a good job there. Anything anyone can tell me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

Default Considering the move as well

My family and I live in Northern Illinois- about an hour and 1/2 from Chicago. We have always wanted to move down to Florida. We have 3 kids- 4, 3, 8 months. Hubby is an electrician. We are trying to find him a job and would be packing our bags as soon as he does. What are some good areas to rent? We would rent the first year or so....
Also we homeschool so schools aren't a big deal to me.

I would say if you really want to move to Florida, for whatever reason, move to North Florida or a completely different state. Anything from Deland down is pretty rough and its probably worse than your town in TN.
