I'm stuck. If anyone would have an answer for me, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm in my upper 40's, getting divorced (finally found my strength to leave an emotionally abusive marriage) and found the best job ever in Orlando. I'm leaving Georgia with my car, my cat, my boxes & very little furniture. Nope, no credit cards or savings--and no family at all.

The awesome job is part-time and I know that having my own apartment will have to be on the back burner for a while--although I plan to find a quick full-time job when I get there--I'll need to rent a room for a few months.

I have exhusted every resource. I've even emailed churches and asked if anyone in their congegations would have a sofa to offer until I get on my feet. I've tried Craigslist and, yuck, that was a creepy experience. I've tried answering a few ads on 'roommates.com' and I never heard back.

No, I don't smoke or drink and don't do drugs (never have). I just work hard and watch TV! Hey-maybe that't the problem!

Any suggestions? I have no options at this point.

Thank you!

Did you look into an ExtendedStay hotel? Or one of those budget hotels that take care of corporate relocators?

Good luck to you!

Extended stay hotels are ok for one to two months, but they get quite expensive. I recall looking into one several years ago while I was doing home renovations, and it was too rich for me.

Have you tried the Orlando Sentinal? You can usually find people looking to rent rooms in the classified section. Another place to check would be church bulletin boards in an area that you want to live.

Also check out the Orlando Weekly. The personals have people renting rooms as well.

Prichard had a good suggestion. There is almost always a few room to rent notices on our church bulletin board. Perhaps you could rent an extended stay for a couple of weeks until you can find a place with a rental room. We, too, looked into extended stay when we had a gap of 2 months between selling our old home and buying our new one. It would not have been good for more than a week or so.
