Why do you want to move here?

Where will you be working?

How much time have you spent in Florida that wasn't at some resort or theme park?

More and More I see people on this Forum wanting to move but you really have to do your homework and find out what is going on here. This State in not doing good in many areas.

I've lived in Florida most of my life (30+yrs). Mostly in Pinellas County area, Dunedin (very nice community), Clearwater, and St. Petersburg. Plenty to do, slightly expensive, some good schools - be sure to investigate. Varied career and higher education opportunities. Music, Culture, Arts. Beautiful beaches, the Bike trail, skate and nature parks. Honeymoon island. Not too far from Crystal River and scuba diving or tubing down the Rainbow River in Dunnellon. Devil's Den cave diving in Williston FL. Canoe the Withlacoochee River. Scallop season opens July 1st at Keaton Beach near Perry FL. Wonderful state parks. Day or weekend trips in every direction. So the down side?? I move to the rural north Florida area a few years ago to escape the traffic and high property insurance costs. Bought 3 bdrm house on 4+ acres on the outskirts of a small town that has little of what I used to enjoy. But I'm not far from big city shopping and dining and visit Pinellas every few months (all my kids are grown and living down there, lol) so it is the best of both worlds for me. Drivers license costs and tag prices have gone through the roof this year, and all states are looking for ways to boost their dollars. So do your homework no matter where you go, especially regarding property insurance. Know your Hurricane Evacuation Zone. Do yourself a favor, don't purchase mobile home.

Don't move here without securing a job. People (including myself) are losing jobs left and right...and these were supposedly stable "I won't get laid off" jobs. If you have a family I suggest Seminole county which has better schools than Orange county (Orlando). My old boss lived in the zip code 32771, which is Sanford but right outside of Lake Mary. You can get a really nice 3b house in the 200s.
