Daytona is a fun town. I would avoid it when there is an event in town like NASCAR, Bike Weeks or Spring Break. The hotels are cheaper than other Beach towns and the board walk is really turning into something nice. There is also a water park that is cheaper than the ones here in O-Town. My family likes to go to Daytona USA (the attraction at the Speedway). Overall, Daytona has some fun and cheap things to do but I would not live there because of the crime and traffic (try Ormond Beach or Port Orange for nicer places to live).

18 years ago I lived in the area for a few years. I lived in Port Orange for awhile, South Daytona for a bit, and then in Daytona Beach itself. General rule: Port Orange and Ormond Beach are nicer places overall, however, there are decent areas in Daytona Beach. This is still the current consensus among most people (I have friends and relatives still in the area and I visit every year or two). Overall, I'd say it is a nice area, but not exactly overflowing with well paying jobs.
