My family is looking for a beautiful golf course home with a pool for 400,000 or less in the Olympia HighSchool area. We found a short sale in Windermere club but it was filthy and trashed. THe owners had a second house in Belmere. Unfortunately, there was 1 million dollars in Equity lines taken out on their Windermere Club house and it is the cheapest home in the neighborhood, worth about 350,000.00. The banks must be insane to loan money on a home without looking at it or appraising its worth. I am sure it will go into foreclosure soon. We decided to search for a home in better condition. I want a meditteranean style home but could only find one neighborhood with them, Tuscany Ridge. Unfortunately, it is sitting on the Turnpike and you can smell the exhaust and see the huge signs from your beautiful home. Will we ever find our dream home? Help?

The answer to that is NO..You will be very lucky to find a newer home, on a golf course in the Olympia School district and I mean very lucky. The only sub-divisions on a golf course in that district are Windermere Club and Isleworth (no chance finding a home there for that price)!! Good luck with your search you will need it I think.
You may need to look in Winter Garden or Dr Phillips but neither of these have access to Olympia.

Thank you. I think you are right. I still like Windermere Club. I wish the house was in foreclosure already. It takes at least one year after the owners stop payment on the mortgage for the banks to begin the foreclosure process. I had a neighbor who lived in her home for one and a half years before the bank put a lock on the door. She never payed the mortgage.

Are there any specific communities that seem more kid friendly?

Personally if I had children I think I would look in old windermere on the dusty streets. This area is incredibly safe for children and they are out playing all the time. A rare and refreshing thing these days. It is a great place if you can 1. find a home for sale 2. are able to afford it 3. are prepared to sacrafice a new home for a much older and probably smaller home. There are 2 parks that are very well kept and because the streets are not paved cars drive much slower and are generally used by residents. Alot of children ride bikes to the local elementary school. Most people have lived here for a long time and guard 'their town' fiercely and it is surrounded by beautiful lakes. There is a beached area on Lake Down with a pier and on a warm day there are families with their children swimming. It is also a great area for outdoor exercise with the sandy streets (great for running) and the shade from the trees.
I think its probably the nicest town in central Orlando for families, others will of course I am sure will disagree.
