So, naturally, they put me in a position where I will be in their merchandising department. Is it worth going down there for 4-5 months to do that same thing ive been doing for 8 years? Ive heard that you work alot, but I was hoping to get at least some time off to meet new people, make some new friends, enjoy the Florida atmopshere.... that sort of thing.

What do you think?
It's basic, entry-level retail work that you'll be doing. As mentioned, most employers still go "ooooh Disney" when they see it on your resume, but more and more employers and colleges are getting wise to the fact that it's no more of an 'internship' program than working at the Mall or a fast food place. Disney milks it for what it is - a source of cheap, young, college-educated labor.

That said, the vast majority of people that I've talked with enjoy it. They meet lots of other people their own age and have positive things to say after they're done with it. Whether it's worth it may depend a lot on your particular field of study and what you're looking to get out of it. If you're looking for a fun 4-5 months of meeting lots of people but doing the same type of work you've been doing, it sounds like a good fit. If you're looking for a more traditional internship experience then you're likely to be disappointed.

I've heard mixed reviews- most CP's are horribly overworked.. they make very little money, have to pay for their housing, get no sleep, etc. But all these people who I've talked to have ended up staying in Orlando, either right after their program ends or after they graduate. So I guess they found something worthwhile by doing the program!
