Left Orlando Dec 1990 and I live in PA now, smalltown, USA. It has become stifling; although I have good family here. I really miss Orlando, Cocoa Beach, and the sunny weather, although at times was too humid. I met tons of people there, but lost some of them when they went back up north. I also new some native Floridians. Before I left it seems like things started to get crazy, with a population explosion, heavy traffic, many road lane widenings, etc. Left for personal reasons and was unable to go back soon thereafter(missed it ). I lived in the Clarcona-Ocoee Road area, which had grown during the late eighties. I used to love going to Lake Fairview to swim. I know the city has grown since then, but I read too that many people have left the area. Can anyone tell me how it compares now to that time in Orlando (1991)? Any info would be appreciated

There is about a million more people now

I never knew you could swim in Lake Fairview ever

Our downtown Skyline is a LOT bigger, many more highways and roads have been built or widened since 2001

Our population is far more diverse then it used to be, we have all colors of the rainbow

Wouldn't recommend Clarcona-Ocoee area now as it has gone downhill, but there are still some nice subdivisions there, including a brand new one by Clarcona Ocoee and Apopka Vineland Rd its called Robinson Hills, very beautiful

Im not suire what else to tell you, other then Orlando is a far different place then it was circa 1990. Even different now then in 2001, when my family left. We came back in 2006

I hope you make the right choice whether to move back here or not. There are still a lot of really cool people here and Orlando is still a great place to live

There is no comparison to what it was in 1991 to how it is now. I love Orlando, I really do, but the cool "small cutting edge" city of 1991 is a distant memory. Everything is bright and shiny new....at LEAST a million more people. The stretch between downtown and Disney is now side by side real estate, condos, theme parks..etc. You do not see any vacant land. Altamonte looks completely different and is so packed you won't recognize it.

Orlando is a fun and nice city but I would be lying if I didnt say I yearn for 1991 Orlando when it was such a nice, friendly and safe place to live.
