Some of the things said here are way out of hand, it seriously makes me laugh as well sometimes.
The East Orlando area grew so much in the last few years because the colleges and universities in the area, that were already huge to begin with, grew even bigger. And many families moved into the area as well. As populations grow so does the crime rate, because there are more people! Crime will always be a reality anywhere. And young people tend to be out more, and a bit free spirited which can be mistaken for many things by older people for some reason

If I was someone that was looking into the Avalon Park/Waterford area, have never been there, and was reading this forum, I would be thinking it was a horrifying ghetto!! But I know people living there and they are loving it.
3 murders in 2 years for area with thousands and thousands of people. I consider it pretty safe.

And why do people on here tend to have issues against minorities?? I'm a young hispanic, and my friends are all different races and ethnicities. The area is diverse, theres a little bit of everything, we have to accept that, more problems arise if we don't. There is too much ignorance here.

Since when has Conway been a ghetto? The areas of Conway further south near Belle Isle are very nice and not ghetto at all. Its just an apartment complex issue

So you're mom doesn't feel safe because her neighbors are younger hispanic people? How racist is that? So young hispanic people are all dangerous? Get real! I'm not hispanic but that comment reeks of prejudice. Some of my best friends are hispanic and they wouldn't hurt a fly unless in their own self defense
You're right Avalon is in unincorporate Orange County, which is why I said Orange County PD.

Bell Isle is not even off Conway so what in the hell are you talking about? S. Conway Rd by and large is not a great area at all. Its still Orlando so relatively low crime but if you're talking about where actual ghettos are - this, pine hills, and parramore are it. Look at Crime Statistics... hell look at the schools. Oak Ridge which serves much of Conway is the second to lowest in Orange County only being beat by the high school that serves Pine Hills. Winter Park High School is the highest rated in Orange County...

Do you even know how to read, I said people like my mom and most of the posters here believe its somehow going downhill because of the rise in the number of hispanic people. Not something I feel at all or agree with but still a truth. Areas that by all means are safe and still seeing development are still being considered by many to be declining.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

Um, most of Conway is Boone which is one of the highest rated high schools in the area.

Without measuring the actual miles to the school zone boundaries, I'd estimate it at maybe 60% Boone, 40% Oak Ridge. I didn't say the majority I said much. I consider 40% to be much of Conway.

I've had to dig and find articles like this one to support some of the things I've stated. But even though the facts are there and "it is what it is" I get flagged. It's racist to put facts up that support your comments, didnt you know that Noodles?

Oak Ridge High? Didn't know Conway kids went there. I know people who live in the Conway area and they all went to (or are still attending) Boone High School

I said TOWARDS Belle Isle, I didn't say Conway goes into Belle Isle

The crime, the people, the nice areas that arent "as nice as they should be," etc.

More established and more character? I disagree. But we all have our opinions. I think east Orlando could use some big time improvement.
The thread originally started regarding Winter Park and 32792. Those are the neighborhoods I'm talking about. 32792 is northeast of Orlando. Last time I checked, Union Park and Azela Park weren't in Winter Park. I agree, Semoran and Curry Ford area has gone downhill, but that wasnt what I was referring to or what the OP was referring to.

The problem with City Data is you get a bunch of people who have only lived in Central Florida a couple years (if that) and think they're experts on everything Orlando. Driving through a neighborhood doesn't mean you know anything about it. Try living there first, and then maybe you will have a good point of view. I swear, some of you people need to stop getting all your info from the local news. You think Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park are bad neighborhoods? Go back to Mayberry.
