LV if you've been here many times, experienced it yourself, and never had any problems than that should speak for itself. Orlando crime is localized in certain areas and not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. Out by UCF what crime there is, is the common crimes associated with high student population, mostly property crimes. The area along University blvd is a good option for a student like yourself. Also look along Alafaya trail from Oviedo to Avalon Park.

Cathysam-you should have plenty of options in your price range. Where will your job be at so we can give you more specific advice?

JHoagie-Lake Nona is a very nice area, but can be a little isolated depending on your situation. Rent for a reasonable 1/1 or 2/1 can be found as low as $650-$800.

Hope this helps,
This area might be a nice area for you Tommy Boston seeing that it is a nice area and close to the airport. I believe the schools are great also.

I am moving up from Miami and have been to Orlando many times, but all this talk of the horrible crime rate has me spoked. Can anyone help me, looking for Safe, Cheap, and Close to UCF.

Hello, I'm not sure of what your price range is. Safe near UCF, you may want to look at Oviedo, Waterford Lakes, Avalon Park. You will be fine here. Crime is concentrated in certain areas. These areas I mentioned area safe and close to UCF

Lake Nona is a great place. You will be fine there. Crime will not be an issue like it is in some other areas of the metro. True crime can occur everywhere but it is mostly centered in or around certain communities. Lake Nona is not an area you will have to worry about. Enjoy.

Orange county has several good high schools. Your best areas of town ... Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, East Windermere. Lake Nona, Alaqua, Heathrow and some other pockets.

Much depends on what you like and what your budget can handle. most of these neighborhoods run from $400k - $3M and up.

Lake Nona's school is too new to be rated so it is a guess as to how it will really fare.

There are some really nice middle of the road neighborhoods as well and I've even been able to get clients so sharp bargains in the best areas.

I would rule out Lake county if schools are important. that's my 2 cents

You'd rule out all of Lake County? I beg to differ.
