Sounds like help is on the way....
![]() Orlando tops cities with the biggest crime increases, a new FBI report said. The FBI released their preliminary annual Uniform Crime Report for 2006 Monday. Orlando tops cities with the biggest crime increases. The amount of reported violent crime in Orlando jumped from 3,800 incidents in 2005 to 4,300 in 2006. The murder rate also went from 22 in 2005 to 49 in 2006. The FBI reports the number of violent crimes nationwide went up by 1.3 percent last year. That increase being blamed on gangs, youth violence, gun crimes and fewer police on beats. Because of the increased violence, federal authorities are sending two teams of crime fighters to Orlando. A task force led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will focus on dismantling crime networks. A second, anti-gang team working under the FBI will work with local agencies. |

I am just glad it's finally being addressed. Maybe when tourism starts to die and Orlando's economy falters Buddy Dyer will wake up.
I love Orlando now, don't get me wrong, but they sweep the crime issue under the rug and that just doesn't cut it for me. |

Well by addressing the crime problem is bad PR for Orlando, but I'm glad too.
I know a lot of newcomers to the state who leave their windows open at night and during the day while they are at work. I have also seen people leave their garage doors open at night - things I would never do, and I don't live in a high crime area. It would be good to rid Orlando of the lowlife. |
