I have food stamps in Massachusetts and I am moving to Florida. I will not be able to use Massachusetts food stamps in Florida, so I need to get Florida Food Stamps. Do I have to wait 12 months until I am a legal resident of Florida, or can I get them right away?

You can get them right away. I just moved here from Georgia and applied. It is taking FOREVER though and it is difficult to get in contact with anyone. Orange County doesn't even have an actual office. Just application centers. It is so annoying.

Oh and you should still be able to use your Mass card if you still have any left on it there in Florida. I have went to Missouri and used mine. They will issue you a FL card when you apply here.

You will need to provide proof though that you closed the case in Mass. You will pretty much need to provide all the same stuff you did in Mass. (Like birth certificates, proof of income, yada yada)

They didnt ask me for proof of florida residency. Just need to provide your physical address.

I understand what everyone is saying, but honestly the OP was just asking about food stamps.

no, you don't have to wait-but you need your new proof of resindence and the letter showing your case was closed. They will open the case -if you qualify) with a future beg date depending on when your other state's benefits will end.
Hope this help-

But what do I know...I guess if you're a good mother and your children are cared for more power to ya'...
Unless this is a shared user name, he's not a mother. He's a 19yo college student making use of social programs. Take a look at poster's previous posts.
