-How can Miami have more drug activity then a city many times larger. There are more people living inside public housing projects in NYC then there are total people living in Miami. Obviously more people are effected by drugs and crime in NYC. People in NYC live much closer to each other. In poor areas that is 5-6 story tenements and 20 story housing projects. Obviously NYC has more of everything including, crime, poverty, and drug activity.

Now for Puerto Rico. The island of Puerto Rico deals with more drug related problems then Mexico. Remember 25% of the cocain entering the USA goes through Puerto Rico (USA is the largest consumer in the world). 20% of stays on the island. That means 20% of all cocain entering the USA stays in Puerto Rico. That means if Puerto Rico was independant, it would be one of the largest consumers of cocain in the world. Per person it would have the most cocain per individual.

Now to simplify even more. Mexico's areas dealing with drug problems are on the northern and southern border. Nothern border seems to be more violent as competition is heated. Mexico City is also dealing with drug crime.

In Puerto Rico the whole island is effected. It is only so big. There is so much drug activity on the island everyone is effected in some way. There are hot areas comparable to Mexico's border towns like parts of San Juan and poor towns across the island. However everyone is effected. IT'S AN ISLAND.

Use common sense.
You keep using 25%....where is that from?....a thought or a newspaper or something we can all read......i don't believe opinions.....i study the facts from a nuetral and unbiased source....

It is amazing that the Miami banks had more money (mostly money from drug dealers) than the banks in NYC which was 20 times bigger back then isnt it

That is a fact not from my mouth but from the news and from videos i posted and articles i posted....click back a couple pages and please look at them to see where i get my arguement from....i say nothing just off of what people in my neighborhood growing up put in my head ....i look at unbiased data before i know the truth......

but go on keep bringing personal thoughts to the table and ill keep moving right on to something else that can actually be proven........

Enough NYC talk, it has nothing to do with the topic. That is your own personal issue.

Here is a good write up they had in Chicago a few years back. Nothing has changed since then. I highlighted the good parts.

ABC7 I-Team: murders on Puerto Rico

March 2, 2004 - The deadliest place in America is Puerto Rico, where one of the most recent homicide victims was a well-known Chicago baseball figure.

It was widely reported earlier this year that Chicago was the nation's murder capital with 599 killings. However, Puerto Rico's homicide rate is more than triple the national average. There were nearly 800 people killed last year; a majority of them in a furious drug war.
The I-Team looks into the case of one of the last to die: Ivan Calderon. Fifteen years ago, Calderon was a star baseball player for the Chicago White Sox. In the beginning, Calderon, nicknamed "Bubbling," wore number 22 when he played for the White Sox. At the end, he was number 770 on the list of Puerto Rico murder victims. He was shot with a 45 pistol in the head and back seven times as he sipped a cocktail.

You are right about Puerto Rico I was misinformed but did know there was problems...but you have been very wrong about thinking Florida cities are a walk in the park compared to NYC and Puerto Rico and that Mexico wasnt worse than PR...yeah i found a great article that will prove we are both right so we can stop this back and forth debate....here it goes

I NEVER said sections of cities in Florida were a walk in the park when it comes to crime. There are plenty of areas in Florida cities dealing with major crime problems. However the whole state is not one big ghetto. Neither is the WHOLE city of Orlando or Miami. Yes there are ****ed up parts of Miami, ever been to Brownsville? A very ghetto neighborhood. Unfortunately I do agree MUCH of Orlando and Miami can be considered ghetto neighborhoods. Which does explain such high per capita crime rates.

And for the Puerto Rico/Mexico comparison. Puerto Rico's drug crime is comparable to Mexico. Both are major drug entry points into the USA. Be it the border towns of Mexico like Nuevo Laredo or the housing projects in San Juan, PR. Mexico and Puerto Rico have huge similarities as to why both places have so many problems with drug crime. They are choak points.

America also has huge problems with drug crime. When you compare parts of the USA, especially in our cities, you will find America is a very violent country. Pretty much all our major cities have huge, high crime/poverty neighborhoods. From the South Bronx in NYC, to the West Side of Chicago, to North Philly, to East L.A. The difference between sections of Puerto Rico/Mexico border towns and high crime areas in America is a lacking police force, and the fact these areas are choak points for narcotics of all kind. Everyone wants to control these areas. No matter how many have to die. They don't hesitate to kill out there like they do in America.

Yeah man.....Florida isnt "all"...a ghetto like u said....but it is weird sometimes to see bad things at a high rate in quite area of town or nice parts of Orlando or Miami.....I do agree with alot of things we have argued about...but Miami "was" a crime capital for years and murder capital....not from just locals starting crime but because the Colombians who brought thier wars to our streets in Miami in the 80's....not to prove a point or anything, i would just suggest watching that movie "Cocaine Cowboys"......i remember living there as a young man when stuff was happening back then and there are stories that were unbelievable to hear on the news at that time.....it was the norm to see 5 people murdered in a house or something like that everyday back then in Miami....and it changed the city....the documentary has news articles to back up everything the story tellers say and pictures of most of the inncodents....it is a really good piece of history about the drug trade in America
