Post Relocating to central FL - job related

Hello,

I live currently in OH and am looking to be transferred to central FL. I've only visited the area on vacation before so do not know the ins and outs. I'm a young 27 year old female, single with no children.

The position would be in a office located on Research Parkway, Orlando, FL 32826.

I would be looking to rent a place and hopefully be no more than $900 a month. Being a young, single female I am looking for somewhere I would feel safe to travel to and from my place of residence. I also would like to have no more than a 1 hour commute to work each day.

What areas should I be looking into to live? I need to know areas before I can really start researching. Please give me both the good and bad so I know where is and isn't a good place to settle.

I would be coming to look at the area the first week of July so I need to have some places picked out to look at when I am in town. I appreciate all the help!

Thank you very much!

So, I have been looking online at apartments but it's hard to know the are without having been there and am in need of the locals to help me!

Are any of the following worth looking at or ones I should absolutely mark off the list? Thanks for helping out a soon to be Floridian. I appreciate it! This will be the biggest move I have ever done and as a young single caucasian female it will be a huge adventure! Exciting and scary at the same time!

Research Parkway is right next to UCF which is a pretty nice area for the most part.
-You could live in that area specifically Waterford Lakes which is about 3 miles south of that area w/ a huge outdoor mall with a good number of apartments. Most of the apartments may have some college kids living in it but it's mostly a mix between young professionals, some families, and college kids. Google Tortuga Bay Apartments, Victoria Place Apartments, Ashton. Arden Villas is another nice apartment complex off University and w/ a mix of college students and young professionals that would be a very short drive to work.
-Getting from one part of Orlando to another is a bit of a pain b/c all the toll roads and it seems like different parts of town don't really connect so getting from the UCF area to Winter Park could take 30 minutes but b/c of the way the road and highways are set up so I would initially just live close to where you work in the UCF area
-If you do want to get away you could look for apartments downtown which will cost more but you will be walking distance to many bar, restaurants on the weekends which can be a positive if that's what your looking for

Good luck

When we first moved to Orlando, we chose Waterford Lakes (then we moved to westside of Oakland/Winter Garden). I think Waterford Lakes is the best place for you being single.. I had to live by myself while my hubby transferred down and I always felt safe in Waterford.

We lived in Waterford East. I liked having a seperate entrance for my "home" vs a common entry way.

OK, I will look into Waterford Lakes. Hope the rent is below $900 as I hope to spend only between 800-900 per month on rent.

Any other particular areas I should look into?

You could look at the Waterford Lakes area, which is a newer area. There are also some areas just north of UCF that are fairly nice. You could also look at the Lake Nona area. Another area to consider would be Oviedo. Personally, if I were going to buy a house, I'd look in Oviedo. If I were looking to rent, I'd probably look in the Waterford Lakes area.

Waterford Lakes... that's where I live. It is a great place to start out here in Orlando. Our zip code is 32828 so do your search on our zip code. You'd have a 10 minute ride to Research Park.

Waterford is a good area for you. The places you chose in Maitland would be to far. Lake Mary is good ,could do it in under an hour.
I would try Waterford or Oviedo first. Oviedo apartments now off Lockwood and Mitchellhamock.
Good luck

You have been given good advice. I would not live in Lake Mary considering where you work unless you want a long commute that could become even longer is there is an accident. Waterford Lakes sounds perfect for you! If not there, perhaps Oviedo would be the next choice.
