I'm looking for restaurants that are steps above Cracker Barrel in quality and style! I know of Emeril's, but I'm looking for something more locally based. Even Mom and Pop places are welcome. Any ideas?

Cecil's Barbaque has good southern food: Fried okra, collard greens, smoked brisket, smoked pork, smoked chicken, and smoked turky, sausage, sweet potato pie.... Oh Boy's barbaque is also good. Bubba-Lou's barbaque has some good southern food. I guess I tend to stick with places that have smoked meat over fried food.

Thanks for the information. I am getting sick of Cracker Barrell as well and will check out some of these places. Where is Oh Boys at Prichard?

There are (I think) three of them. One in Winter Park; another on Colonial, just west of I-4; and I think another on South Orange Avenue.

Personally, I like Ceicils the best! It's on South Orange Avenue about 3 miles south of Downtown. The smoked brisket is about the best quality you will ever find. Lean and fresh carved. The pork, chicken and turky are good also, but I've never had better brisket that wasn't home cooked; and even then, there's only one person I know who can make it just a tad bit better than Ceicils.

Ceicils is no fancy place - so don't go there expecting black-tie service. You stand in line, take a tray and the guy carves the meat right in front of you. All meat is slow smoked in a real wood smoker. Then you load up on greens, okra, beans, salads, etc. I eat there quite often; too often!

That sounds like my kind of place! Thanks for the information.
