I agree its overpriced (but everything in Orlando is), but you ever been there any time at all? The people that live there are pretty normal, it isn't really "Stepford" at all. The only difference is you can actually walk around the neighborhood town. I've been to the Subway a couple of times and there was a lady there working, originally from Australia. She didn't seem remotely like a robot, and people there seem to do normal things like everybody else. The only real problem with Baldwin park is affordability and getting alot of real jobs there that pay well.
Oviedo and Winter Springs are both OK places, though Winter Springs is having planning problems funding the fire department. Also, Winter Springs has shunned alot of top-dollar employers, so that makes tax revenues stagnant. Residents are rebelling against higher fees for the fire department, a result of Rubio and Christ's ballot measure that passed. Oviedo and Sanford both tend to have more conservative, short-sighted city councils, though Oviedo is the more liberal of the two.
Sanford is also a nice town but it isn't as close to Orlando and the feel isn't as upscale. It has more crime but it isn't as high as some places in the area. There are more blue collar type jobs there, too, and it has a more southern character. At one time Sanford was a major area city, arguably even more significant than Orlando.
