Having had 3 babies, I don't think the baby would like it.
Imagine going through such a traumatic experience, being forced out of the only world you ever knew (with your head getting squished) where all you heard were at least comparatively soft sounds (unless mama frequented rock concerts) to this noisy bright world, and now people are yelling at you!
From Wikipedia:
A birthday, as the term implies, is the anniversary of the particular day on which a person was born.
My Webster's dictionary says it's the day of one's birth or the anniversary of the day of one's birth. So I'd be all for singing Happy Birthday To You..... in the hospital! Good idea, OP!
PS - Who says it has to be loud? A quiet little birthday song to greet the newborn would be very sweet!
With all that activity with screaming and crying at birth I doubt anyone would want to be singing any songs. And the baby is probably thinking I was happy and comfortable in there and now I'm being subjected to all this torture and problems of the future...
And in all practicality whose going to do all the singing with all the activity going on. Plus whose going to pay for the singing. I doubt insurance will pay for it. Hence the celebration on the anniversary of the birth.
