I had a cyst removed from my back last summer, and the doctor warned me not to go poking at it until the stitches were out.

Oh, that would have been the last time my fur-kid got into something with grains in it. He loves him some crackers, see, and he'll get up in the cabinets to pull out a box and nosh on them. Thing is, though, that his digestion doesn't do well with grains, and they basically ferment in his gut.
And then, about two to three hours after he gets hold of the crackers, it starts: the foul, greenish miasma begins to creep through the house, and the human occupants all run for the yard, tears streaming, noses running, coughing and hacking and retching in disgust.
And the fur-kid sits in the window, meowing plaintively as if to say "but why? Why did you all run away instead of staying here to pet me and play with me? Don't you love me any more?"
Gas masks..... gonna have to think some more about that idea. It sure would be nice not to have to stand outdoors for half an hour or so in a Wisconsin January waiting for the fumes to clear out of the house. Gas masks.... wonder how much they cost?
