Do you like them? Or just "Say hurry and go away?
Or do your friends and family still do something for you?

I celebrate my birthday each year with a bang on July 3rd whether or not my friends and family chooses to acknowledge my special day. Knowing me, I'd still be celebrating even at age 80.

As I get older, I now have mini birthday events every month. Born on April 9, I now have minor birthday celebrations on the 9th of every month, and on those days I proclaim: I'm now 60.4 or 60.9 or 60.11.

The biggest birthday parties have been turning 16, 18, 21, 40 (when life begins), 55 (elibility to live in a 55+ community). 62 is coming up. That day after I'll probably get a stack of noise violation letters from my HOA! Fireworks are not allowed in my townhouse complex!

I like birthdays, still celebrate them, and we still get each other gifts.

I don't really like big celebrations - I like smaller get-togethers.

For my 30th this year - I bought myself a Apple Mac & a break up to the great barrier reef .... which I enjoyed much more than a big party
