Morning peevers.
An iffy day after 3 glorious days in DE.

How about the peeve........Stores and restaurants with poor employee service.
Not sure we had this the other day but I'm sure we all got tales about this to last a lifetime.

We don't exactly live in a respectful customer service oriented world any longer. I've grown to expect absolutely nothing from most of them.

You got that right, Glory. Started noticing a big change back in the mid-80's and it wasn't a change for the better.

It took me a bit to get used to a slower paced "everything" when I moved here and I remember the first few times I went out to eat - practically had to tackle the waitress just to get the check. I then realized that here they expect people to chit-chat after eating.

Went back for a wedding and took my son out to lunch in Boulder. I swear, every 2 minutes the waitress would come over, ask if everything was OK and if we were ready for the check. She just kept hoovering and finally came back with the manager asked the same question. I just looked at both of them and said "Listen, I live in Panama, I'm TRYING to catch up with my son and NO we're not finished! When I want my check I'll ask for it, but I will have another beer since I'm annoyed now." I know they just wanted to flip the table, but damn - there were open tables and I was spending a pretty penny on that meal.

Yeah, I don't know which is worse...can't find the waitress/waiter, or having them interupt every two minutes. Have you ever noticed how they always ask "is everything OK" just when you took a bite and your mouth is full and you can't answer? Is that intentional?...I wonder
Also, I'm a big fan of "eye contact". Look at me when you're talking to me...maybe a smile...makes me feel like an important customer.

I think as a society we have gone both ways on this topic....IMO we have to some degree become ungrateful in our actions....both as customers and as employees.....so now the end product for those who still care is disgust.....

I can't figure it out, on the one hand there are so many people who say they'd do anything to get a job. On the other hand, the people who do have jobs don't do them, or don't do them well. You'd think with so many people looking for work the ones who have a job would be trying harder.

I agree, with so many people looking for work, you would think they could find some good ones, but I don't think they stress "great customer service" anymore! They are just satisfied to have people work for them cheap

Spit it at them and answer. They won't do it a second time. I have actually done this. Anything for a laugh.

When you get a bunch of racers in a restaurant, after a weekend of racing, all kinds of wierd things are done to get the attention/seduce the waitress. Throwing creamers works, until you hit a customer instead of the waitress. Picking up the check of the target of the errant creamer has so far avoided legal action.

It peeves me when you ask the waitress for a re-fill, or extra knapkins etc, and they say okay be right there and then they forget all about you.
Service is where the big tip, little tip, or no tip comes into play.
