Ahhh the inocence we had. Didn't really experience the funny smelling cigarettes, but definately the hippie thing !! PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS !!! How about the neclaces with the big PEACE signs. Peace signs everywhere ! The Greatful Deads dancing "Teddy Bears" (for lack of correct name).
O.K., I'm gonna age myself here ...... the Volkswagon Van or bus (I'd love one of those today), the Pinto station wagon, remeber the Gremlin or the beloved Dodge Dart. ( LOL) And how we crammed everyone in so we could all go together.
Not to mention all the amazing muscle cars that era produced.

To Pkoons and Cleosmom
Cleosmom: kabangers were two balls that were as hard as cement and they were attached by a rope with a little handle. You had to hold the handle and move your arm up and down to cause the balls to bounce up and down...once you got into the rythym, the two balls would bang together simultaneously above and below your arm (hence making a kabang sound). If you messed up and the balls hit you, you were walking away with briuses.
Pkoons: I couldn't agree with you more...on all of your statements!

Thats what I thought they were, and the pain returned upon reading your post. Also the paddle with the ball attatched, Mom used to tease us, after the ball came off, saying it was her third hand

What, they don't have Ice Cream trucks in SC anymore, or you just are like me and a little past running after them.

Remember the Smiley Face? Every art project I ever did was a Smiley.
Kilroy was here. The walkin' dude in the zoot suit.
Levi's cords in every color, cuffed just so. Worn with Frye boots!
Leather headbands.
Posters in your room from Teen Beat & Tiger Beat magazine. I had Bo & Luke Duke, Leif Garrett, Andy Gibb, and the most hideous black light skeleton rock & roll thing (with my feather clips hanging from the bottom).

We have one here in Aiken. Fool driver is out 12 months a year! You better be a world class sprinter if you want to catch this one, he drives REALLY fast.

You know, I'm sitting here and reading these posts (including mine) and I don't know if I want to laugh, cry or do both. It's so very funny to remember this stuff and to know that other people remember it. It's so sad however that it's long gone. I know that's why we call it the past, but why are our children missing out on this??? You know, the only people to blame for that is ourselves. Why can't we take the time to do those same things with them....why because people would laugh at us, or say we're "retro" or too old to be doing it? Or because people would wonder why we're bringing these things back from the past? So what, the clothes and hair come back in style...strawberry shortcake dolls are back in, barbie and GI Joe have always been around. Look around, people act like the Care Bears are a NEW thing...no, it's old. And I'm not talking about just from my own era, there's things from other eras that are back as well...simple stuff, roller skating, jump rope, I did it, my mom did it, even my grandmother did it.... So why are we afraid to teach our kids to enjoy life the way we did?!?!?! It's true they say one person can definitely make a change.....I say we all print out a copy of what we're writing and let our kids read it, let them laugh at us and then let's follow it and teach them how to be kids the way kids should be!!!! My one daughter thinks I'm nuts already, so who cares

Retro is in, pixieshmoo. I like to jumprope. Not very good at it anymore, but still enjoy doing it. I am fortunate to live in a neighborhood where the kids still go out to play in the afternoons after school. Football or basketball in someone's yard. It is part of the charm of this area.
I think Kilroy is about 15-20 years older than Mr. Roboto. Now you are making me feel old.
