Bwahahahaha. That's good to know and thanks for sharing.
I remember when there was no internet, *gasp* no Starbucks, no crack cocaine, cell phones, Botox, Walmart, Home Despot, self-pay gas stations or automated phone hell systems, no Bratz dolls....
Are we really better off? Hmmm.
I miss flying back when it was fun, there was actual leg room and they fed you more than two molecules of dried out peanuts.

Oh silly me, I forgot. Now it's molecules of dried out pretzels.
Ever seen the warning on the tiny bag of peanuts? "WARNING! May Contain Peanuts."

Well, I'm back after about seven hours, let's see if I can catch up!!!
That's awesome...may contain peanuts (never noticed that, now I have to look)!
Pop rocks were awesome...wasn't there a rumor that that's how Mikey (Life cereal) died???
My husband and I were just talking about those candy cigarettes, they turned into gum after, they were great.
Nancy Drew was great, I still have her books and the Bobbsey Twins (my daughter reads them now).
Cell phones, yup...we didn't even have beepers back then. Like I said in one of my previous posts, communication was sent by your mother screaming your name out the door so you'd come running (and depending on the type of scream, you could determine whether it was dinner or if you were in trouble).
Remember the fuzzy posters you could hang up, black lights went well with them.
The rollerskating rink is where most people had their first kiss!! (BTW, don't forget a little older, rollerdisco or rollerboogie)
The scariest movies were The Shining (heeer's johnny), Carrie (my mom screamed everytime her d*mn arm came out of the ground) and Poltergeist. Friday the 13th was awesome till about the 27th one(ugh)...Freddy too (of course the first one's the best with Johnny Depp [sigh]. The one movie I still can't watch to this day is Salem's Lot (I'm petrified of it). Oops, can't forget The Lost Boys, were those the hottest vampires or what?!
The best non-horror movies were Star Wars, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, The Warriors, Scarface. ET, Goonies, Raging Bull and of course...drum roll, please....Taxi Driver.
I don't know where everybody's from but if you have the VH1 channel, you just HAVE to watch "we love the 80's" or the shows about rock bands "where are they now", etc. It will take you back to things you thought you've forgotten (or tried to). We watched one the other night and they were talking about how famous Iron Maiden's "Eddie" was.
I remember that horrible squeaking noise your skin would make going down those metal slides....got hurt on the monkey bars several times...threw up AND fell in the mud off of those things you had to spin while running in a circle and then try to jump on...afraid of the seesaw...almost broke my face jumping off of a swing while up in the air (and yes, those plastic seats were just as hot as the slide)...isn't that what being a kid is about?!
My husband and I still go to concerts and everytime we go we laugh about being the old people...then we get there and there's always some dude who's about 150 yrs. old, in a leather and fringe vest with a motorhead or aerosmith shirt on, smoking some you-know-what...everytime.
Any of you girls remember Mon-che-che (sp?)

was it a furry animal???
Did any of you have the growing up skipper doll? I had to google it because I forgot her name, but her bust grew when you turned her arm
7259 Growing Up Skipper (1975-1977)
One of the most controversial dolls in 1975, just about every newspaper in the U.S.A. carried a story about her, some women's groups & a few parents wrote to complain, but with sales expected at 1 1/2 million, the doll must go on to market. She's 9" tall, long platinum or reddish blonde hair, curled end flip. "She's Two dolls in One" when you turn the left arm she grows a modest bust line, slimmer waist and becomes 3/4" taller. (turning the arm back again reverts to the previous shape doll). Included are a red headband, red body suit, blue collar, blue scarf, red socks, red flats, white platform shoes, two red, white plaid skirts, one short, one long.

Greatest American Hero was such an awesome show...my husband always sings the theme song to it (Believe it or not, I'm walking on air)...it was so funny, but I don't think it lasted very long on TV, right?
Yes, Mon-che-che's were those fury monkeys (or something like a monkey). I don't remember growing up skipper, I had skipper but she was the regular one. Hey, did anyone ever own or see a ken with real hair or did they all have plastic hair?!
