This last winter I had a neighbor help me dig my car out from the snow. That was pretty nice of him.

i was walking the shorline and i found this seagull that was entangled in a nylon rope that was tangled to a bush. it looked like it had been there a few days, you could tell it was realy struggling to get free, it had dug up dirt around the bush. but i got the gull untangled and placed it in a calm spot in the ocean a few hours passed and the bird finally flew away.. that bird was lucky i was walking by that day, it would have never got untangled by itself.. don't think small things like this will save mankind though..

A week ago on the train my wallet fell out of my coat pocket (I know I usually have it in the inside pocket of my coat zipped in but I was in a rush that morning), and a teenager gave it back to me as I was leaving. It had about forty or fifty bucks in it and my cards. I was pretty grateful lol.

Well look at the stories so far, including yours Lisa. We have a teenager returning a lost billfold (with the money still there), neighbors helping out and shoveling snow for someone with medical issues, another helping to dig out a neighbors car when they could have just said "oh, I have my own to deal with" - then Normie's long, long driveway lol that a neighbor finished clearing.

and YES Cruxan helping that poor bird - it all shows basic human kindness. Enough kindness can teach others by 'walking the walk' and counter all the negativity that screams at us on the news, papers and just the daily challenges we each deal with in our lives.

Countless things! I love this thread

My dh was recently outside working on fixing our lawnmower and one of our neighbors mowed our lawn for us.

When we lived up north, a neighbor left very early for work and would always snowblow our sidewalk, front walk, and even around the car if needed.

After my daughter died, I got an anonymous package full of yarn and a bottle of my favorite wine. I still don't know who that was from, but I was incredibly touched and sobbed for hours (happy tears, which was a nice change from what I had been doing).

A client tipped me $300 for no particular reason except that she thinks I do a good job.

A friend drove from the other side of the state to go house shopping for me before we moved down.

When we moved here, our moving company was playing a ridiculous game and we didn't know if we would be able to get our stuff; ever. The guy that owns the storage company where we finally found our belongings called me. Then he called the other company. Then he called the news. Then I got my stuff. For next to nothing. I still need to send that guy a Christmas card. What a great guy.

A stranger held his umbrella over me while I was walking to my car in a downpour.

My dh put his wallet on top of his car and drove away. Of course, when he got where he was going, the wallet was gone. The next day the police called. Someone found it and turned it in with everything intact.

I have more, but I'll stop now.

This is my favorite kind of thread.

I'll start Something I shared on QOTD was how I woke up yesterday and the electricity was out. Not being a morning person lol I went next door to ask my neighbor if she knew what was going on. Considering I've lived next to her for 2 1/2 years she knows I have to get some coffee in me or I'm

I was back at my house a few minutes and next thing I knew there she was - a huge mug of coffee in one hand and some cream in the other

So what stories do you have that balance things out and makes you realize that not all people are
This is a good thread Joy. We tend to see a lot of the bad things humans do, but we rarely see the good they do, even though there is a lot of good and in many cases, good prevails over the bad, we just don't hear about it.

Generally, if you see what many churches are doing to help the less fortunate, that'll definitely restore your faith in mankind.

I just returned from a week in Haiti and seeing the resourcefullness, joy, humor, kindliness and patience of those people who have suffered so much, and the dedication of thousands of relief workers who have come from all over the world, has lifted my spirits and renewed my faith in mankind.

Whatever you've heard about the Haitian's is a lie. They are magnificent people. So are those who put aside their personal lives and travel there at great expense to offer a helping hand after such a great tragedy.

People helping people. Strangers offering a hand of kindness and love to each other. What else is there?
