Today's Question(s):

I though I had seen it all, then I saw Milla Jovovich and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me ?

Bonus Question:

Do you use any type of computer money manager ? No

Extra Credit Question:
With the NFL preseason games starting up I have to ask

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL !!!! ? HELL YES!!! (But mainly because NFL season is just one big beer and food party to me. I put the game on TV, then go in and out of the house, drinking beers during the game....food is a part of the fun, too...snacks & the main course....then mo' beer. I don't watch games that start after 4:15.

Will any of our QOTD family be attending any NFL or College football games in person this season ? Probably, but I won't.

Do you own something with your favorite team's "Logo" ?

I have a genuine Denver Broncos Superbowl shirt, right from Mile High Stadium, and a rare Official Denver Broncos coffee mug that you cannot find anywhere anymore. Not even on Ebay. Nowhere.

Just for Fun: Oh boy, I like fun!

Do you or have you ever owned a "cockoo clock" ?!!! Errrr, no!

I suppose they sell them in the porno store down the road....but I don't want one. I don't think it's right to do that stuff to things that people hold special in their hearts.

Anyone have any "novelty" clocks around the house ? Nope, not anymore.

Today in History:
1835 - Solymon Merrick patents the wrench
1891 - Electric self-starter for automobile patented
1859 - 1st air mail (in a balloon) took off from Lafayette Ind with over 100 letters for people in New York City. Well, the mail was late, it only got 27 miles out of town before being forced to land.
1903 - Joe Pulitzer donated $1 million to Columbia U and so begins the Pulitzer Prizes

Word of the Day:
tare \ TAIR \ , noun;
1. The weight of the wrapping or container that holds an object.
2. The weight of a container or wrapper that is deducted from the gross weight to obtain net weight.
3. The weight of a vehicle without cargo, passengers, etc.
4. Any of various climbing plants, generally with edible seeds.Oh.

Today is:
National Vanilla Custard Day
Davy Crockett Day
National Thriftshop Day
Wrench Day I have great tools. I guess my favorite may be the channel locks.
Self starter Day
Meaning of "Is" Daywhat the heck?
Pulitzer Prize Day

Thanks Karla! Everyone have a great day, except for those that drink and drive! I hope the day sucks for those people!

And I see CD had some diagnostic problem when I tried to post this a few minutes ago.

Actually, I did win a "pullet surprise" from my college journalism professor. He thought he was such a clever guy ...

National Thriftshop Day

Hmmm ... perhaps I'll blow off work early and hit the thrift store!

Default Hurry, Fall!

Not a football fan, but largely because no one has ever taken the time to really explain the game to me.

Myunderstanding of football is this: Men, in a lot of protective gear, line up, facing one another, on a field numbered 10, 20, 30, 40. One team has the ball and tries to run to the goal. Of course, the other team wants the ball and tries to get it, and run to the opposite goal. So, in this line-up, the team with the ball shouts out some numbers, but hopefully no one's Social Security; the ball gets thrown -- sometimes a long shot, other times, more sneaky -- and they run like hell, as much as you can in all that gear, and with fellows charging you from all directions. The guys without the ball try to protect the guy with the ball, and the other team tries to figure-out the 'game plan.' The team that gets to the goal the most often, wins.Did I miss anything?

I'll probably get tackled over this one, and have the pointed ends of a football bounced off my head, but here goes: I like soccer better. Maybe only because my daughter played it for years, and the game goes fast. I also think had there been soccer when I was a kid, I would have loved playing. I can't watch a ball and hit it, say with a bat, but I am a good sprinter and can kick the heck out of a ball, sending it where it needs to get.

I can sit and watch a pro soccer game, and understand what it going on -- except for the concept 'off-sides' . . . I mean, so the other team's faster than what yours is? Get OVER it. I liked supporting the pro soccer team, The Hammerheads, down on the coast, and where I am now, we have the Railhawks. Trips to DC, I have wanted to secure tickets to see the women play -- Mia Hamm, or no Mia Hamm.

Baseball? It's the Durham Bulls, or the Baltimore Orioles. Tennis? Yeah, because I used to play, myself; never at the level my talented sister does. Hockey? Occasionally, I'll watch the team from here, the Hurricanes, who won the Stanley Cup a few years back.

But football? The team's still out on that one, the ball waiting to be kicked. . .

Wrench Day

Man, but I saw this, and thought it read Wench Day, followed that thought with Oh, yeah! Now we're talkin' . . . and then saw the R. W-r-e-n-c-h. Drats, but I was so looking forward to getting to be the 'wench.' Always being the lady gets tiresome.
