Default Today's Question Wednesday 9-15-10

Good morning everyone
Happy Wednesday

Rushing a bit this morning because today is the first day of classes for the program I volunteer/teach at one of the local elementary schools.

I am excited because we were "promoted to 4th grade" this year
I have a feeling there are going to be quite a few kids from last years 3rd grade. But it will be fun to see their faces when Ms Karla walks into the classroom

So before I head off let me ask

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ?

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ?

Did you get caught ?

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate ________?

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ?

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ?

Do you differ from the local practice ?

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ?

Today in History:

1913 - 1st U.S. milch goat show held, Rochester, New York.
1928 - Alexander Fleming discovers penicillin
1949 - WJXT TV channel 4 in Jacksonville, Florida (CBS) begins broadcasting - lol I am watching this channel right now !!!
1949 - "Lone Ranger" premieres on ABC-TV
1971 - 1st broadcast of "Columbo" on NBC-TV
1982 - 1st issue of "USA Today" published by Gannett Co Inc

Word of the Day:
arch \ AHRCH \ , adjective;
1. Cunning; crafty; sly.
2. Obsolete . A person who is preeminent; a chief.
noun:
1. A curved masonry construction for spanning an opening

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ?
Oh yes, all the time

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ?
I nearly failed 9th grade because I missed so many days

Did you get caught ?
Most of the time

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate ribs.

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ?
I think most everyone tips on the post amount

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ?
Most give a present I think, unless it's family

Do you differ from the local practice ?
No, I do what's done usually

Just for Fun:

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ? I would have if I could have... but with the layout of our home, the only way I could have done it would be to shimmy down the drainpipe from my upstairs bedroom. Was always too chicken to try that!

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ?
Lots of times!

Did you get caught ?
Lots of times!

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate _______?
I could use an adult bib most times when I eat!

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ?
We do have those coupons, but I've never used them... they never seem to be valid in restaurants I want to go to. Most of the coupons seem to be for cheapie/fast food restaurants where (in Australia) tipping isn't overly common.

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ?
Depends... if it's a young couple I might give cash, for an older couple more likely a gift.

Do you differ from the local practice ?
I don't think so... never actually asked anyone!

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ?
Years and years... my hair is quite thick and short of wearing elastic under my chin, I can't keep a hat on!

Happy Hump Day to all. Almost Thursday here!

Woohoo, I made it to page 1!!!

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ?
No, of course not. I was a very good girl!

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ?
Only my last math class.

Did you get caught ?
No/Yes. We told the teacher that since it was our last class and we had so much to prepare for the ball there was no time at all to sit through class and think about mathematics

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ?
Usually, yes. But we don't have such coupons over here

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ?
Depends. If the couple is still very young they usually get the money. If you know that they need something for the household etc. you buy a gift.

Do you differ from the local practice ?
No, we got money since we started building house a year later and could use the money for this as well as for the honeymoon

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ?
Can't remember.
Today is:
National Linguini Day Yum, I'm still unsure about what to cook for dinner. Linguine is certainly an option!
Make a Hat Day
National Thank-You Day THANK YOU KARLA for all the ?'s!!!

Happy hump day all!

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ? Guilty as charged! Only way I was ever caught was my older sis would tattle on me

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ? Again...guilty. Lived near the Jersey shore and no way could I ignore the calling of the beach! Thankfully, I was bright enough, it never effected my grades!

Did you get caught ?Nope

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate _crawfish_______?

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ?
I would hope the pre-coupon amt.

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ? Both

Do you differ from the local practice ?

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ? Can't remember...I hate the feeling of a hat on my head.

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ? yes

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ? yes

Did you get caught ? yes - isn't it inevitable?

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate tacos?

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ? I haven't seen a coupon like that for years. If I had one I would tip on the pre amount.

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ? I haven't been to a wedding here so I'm not sure about the local custom.

Do you differ from the local practice ?

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ? Anytime I will be out in the sun for very long I wear a hat - probably a week ago.

Be good in school today Karla!!

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ? Yup

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ? Yup

Did you get caught ?Yup

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate _spaghetti(every time actually lol___?

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ? Pre!!!! I don't know if it's my neck of the woods procedure or not but that's what we do.

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ? If they have a registry (which I strongly prefer) I get something off of that...otherwise it's cash.
Do you differ from the local practice ? I've never really been one to follow anyone else's practice on this subject. I try to give something I would like to recieve.

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ? Does a helmet count? If so about a month ago and will be wearing it this weekend. Regular hats tend to annoy me.

Have a great day everyone!

Today's Question(s):

When you were younger did you ever "sneak out of the house" to meet friends or go to a party ? and got caught crawling back in my BR window afterwards.

How about school, did you ever "oops" skip a class or classes ? yeah, that too.

Did you get caught ? What's funny is that I 'thought' I had gotten away with it until I was maybe 21 or so and was talking to my mom. She told me she knew each time I skipped class - 'course I was pretty stupid because it was a small school and the mom/wife of our only close set of neighbors was the school secretary.

Bonus Question:

I really could of used an "adult bib" the last time I ate ________? Anything - that's what Shredder's for. He's my bib.

Extra Credit Question:

What is the "normal" or standard procedure in your neck of the woods:

When you go out to eat and have a coupon(a buy one entree get one free or $$$ off the item or bill)
Do folks tip on the pre or post coupon amount ? I don't think any of the restaurants here use coupons - maybe down in the big city lol now in Summit during low season (i.e., ski resorts closed) coupons or discounts were the only ways to stay in biz. We always tipped according to what the meal would have cost and those were the days when the poor server who was running her butt off got to keep all of their tips.

When you go to a wedding do folks give a present or cash ? It really depends on the couple. I've done both as some couples really need money not a bunch of stuff, while others are doing fine and register then I would go and buy them something on the list.

Do you differ from the local practice ? Well for my nieces wedding I did bring her something from Panama so guess that was differing from local practice (but I gave her money too as I knew they needed it)

Just for Fun:

What was the last time you wore a hat ? Think I wore my BB cap last week when I ran down to one of the mini-supers that isn't in my neighborhood. Other than that I can't remember when I wore an actual hat - maybe the 80's/early 90's when it was all the rage.
