I couln't find a good place to put this thread so here should be fine. Is hanging doorhangers considered soliciting? And is doing so considered trespassing (getting to one's front door is not possible without entering their land property)?

I get door hangers all the time. I get them from churches, politicians, roofers, yard services, etc. I think that, as long as the solicitors don't attach them to or put them inside of your mailbox, it's legal. Maybe you could check your city ordinances to find out if it's legal in your area. Good luck!

They don't bother me, especially if it is something I want. Now, as to telephone solicitors, let's not go there.

I absolutely HATE when people leave their crap on my windshield at work. I dont care who its from or what it says, I tear it to shreds and toss it into the wind. Leave my truck alone, , I dont need stupid notes or business cards sliding down my window panel or some jerk messing up my windshield wipers because they feel its important that I know of some service they do.

If you expected a response it was soliciting!

In most residential places it would be considered trespassing. Also in most residential places you would need a permit to solicit by your local agency. And in all cases if any ppty has a sign saying no solicitating, then for sure it's trespassing.
Anytime you cross onto someone's private property without permission that's usually considered tresspassing.
Some people don't mind and some people do. You take your chances.

We confuse the O in Other Topics for Off Topics.
It is what makes this particular forum fun and lets up show our colorful personalities.

As far as your question:
Flyers are considered 'canvassing'....not 'soliciting'.

Do NOT attach them or insert them near to or into a mailbox. This can result in a fine. Put them in the door area only.
Don't try to sell to anyone if they open the door. THAT is considered soliciting and the regular no soliciting rules apply.
You are not trespassing by going to a door. You are only trespassing if you go outside of a designated walk area OR the owner
tells you to leave and you don't.

This is good to know, actually I was going to do the windshield, flyer thing, but I had second thoughts about my phone number being all over the county. The door hanger sounds good to offer services.
