Today's Question(s):

What was your best "and the crowd went wild" (or they would of if they had seen it) moment ? When I took the off ramp on I-25 in a blinding blizzard to seek shelter, thus freeing the line of cars behind me to speed up and continue their foolish journey. They probably gave a collective "Hooray, she's finally off the road", many of whom, no doubt, had to be rescued by the road crews somewhere down the road. I told this story in this post six weeks ago.

Extra Credit Question:
The following inspired by a suggestion from our own Elston

Is it stuffing or dressing ? Either. I'm not picky.

Do you make it the same as your mother did or use your own recipe ? I've embellished what my mother used to do. Bread base with onion, celery, water chestnuts (for crunch), mushrooms plus plenty of sage and poultry seasoning.

Do you add any of the following:
Dry Bread ? yes
Crackers ? no
Corn Bread ? A little.
Mashed Potato ? no
Mushrooms? yes
Oysters? yuck, never.
Chestnuts? yes
Other ? Onions and celery plus carrots if I have any.

Bonus Question:

Oops !Has anyone ever left the "little bag 0' stuff" inside by mistake and cooked the turkey that way? Nope. I always use that for giblet gravy.

Speaking of the little "bag 0' stuff" inside:
Do you use the turkey gizzard, liver, heart, neck that you find inside the "little bag 0' stuff" ? All of it.

If so how ? gravy

Thanks Elston !!!

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite:
Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine ? diet cherry coke
Pop Tart Flavor ? never eat them
Cereal topper ? raisins
Toast topper ?
honey

Today in History:

1863 - U.S. President Abraham Lincoln delivered his "Gettysburg Address" I still know it by heart.....also the Florence Nightengale pledge.
1895 - Frederick E. Blaisdell patents the pencil Have always wondered how they are made. Should look it up someday.
1928 - After five years of publication, "TIME" magazine presented a cover portrait for the first time. Japanese Emperor Hirohito was the magazine’s first cover subject.

Thanks so much Kwak for the QOTD! Hope you're having an excellent day.
Today's Question(s):

What was your best "and the crowd went wild" (or they would of if they had seen it) moment ?
Wow...I can't really think of anything that would make a crowd go wild. LOL

Extra Credit Question:
The following inspired by a suggestion from our own Elston

Is it stuffing or dressing ? Both....LOL At our home, the term is interchangable.

Do you make it the same as your mother did or use your own recipe ? I make the same "kind" of stuffing as my mother, but I don't stuff the bird. I bake a couple of glass baking pans full of it and don't actually use a recipe, just some of this, some of that, a little of this...and "Oh what the heck, throw a little more of THIS in"...much like most of my cooking.

Do you add any of the following:
Dry Bread ? This one. Some sourdough, 12 grain, whole wheat, etc. I always use several types of bread, but never just plain white bread.
Crackers ?
Corn Bread ?
Mashed Potato ?
Mushrooms? Occasionally
Oysters?
Chestnuts?
Other ? Sometimes a few cranberries, sometimes a few raisins, sometimes walnuts, sometimes olives

Bonus Question:

Oops !Has anyone ever left the "little bag 0' stuff" inside by mistake and cooked the turkey that way? Oh crap, have I got a story for you. One time, probably 18 years ago, I cooked a turkey...no holiday, just for dinner. I forgot to take the bag out of the turkey. My 3 year old son had just recently watched the show "Milo and Otis", well the dog had had puppies and it showed them born in their sacks. (Do you see where this is going?) OMG....I pulled the bag out of the turkey and my little guy said, "Ooooooooh....a BABY"! To this day, y'all, I SWEAR....I can NOT pull that bag out of a turkey without cracking up ... we all relive that moment together and laugh our butts off. So funny! One of those precious moments I will never forget.

Speaking of the little "bag 0' stuff" inside:
Do you use the turkey gizzard, liver, heart, neck that you find inside the "little bag 0' stuff" ? Yes, if I am making dressing/stuffing, it's a must have.

If so how ? Dice the stuff up in small pieces, fry in butter with onions, add chicken stock and use it in the dressing.

Thanks Elston !!!

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite:
Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine ? Pepsi
Pop Tart Flavor ? Frosted strawberry
Cereal topper ? bananas
Toast topper ? butter and blackberry or raspberry jam

Today's Question(s):

What was your best "and the crowd went wild" (or they would of if they had seen it) moment ? When I finally got the nerve to jump off a 40 foot pole in a ropes course. The crowd did go wild because they were tired of holding the belaying ropes.

Extra Credit Question:
The following inspired by a suggestion from our own Elston

Is it stuffing or dressing ? I say both.

Do you make it the same as your mother did or use your own recipe ?
I don't make it. I mooch off of friends.

Do you add any of the following:
Dry Bread ?
Crackers ?
Corn Bread ?
Mashed Potato ?
Mushrooms?
Oysters?
Chestnuts?

Today's Question(s):

What was your best "and the crowd went wild" (or they would of if they had seen it) moment? When I learned to tie my shoes.

Extra Credit Question:
The following inspired by a suggestion from our own Elston

Is it stuffing or dressing? Stuff the dressing into the turkey? Stuffing goes inside the turkey, dressing on top of the salad.

Do you add any of the following:
Dry Bread ?
Crackers ?
Corn Bread ?
Mashed Potato ?
Mushrooms?
Oysters?
Chestnuts?
Other ?
Whatever the cook adds I eat it.

Bonus Question:

Oops !Has anyone ever left the "little bag 0' stuff" inside by mistake and cooked the turkey that way? Man, leave a baggie inside the turkey and you both get high.

Speaking of the little "bag 0' stuff" inside:
Do you use the turkey gizzard, liver, heart, neck that you find inside the "little bag 0' stuff"? Wow man, is that what's inside those baggies.

If so how?

Today's Question(s):
What was your best "and the crowd went wild" (or they would of if they had seen it) moment ?

A company I worked for back in Maine was called in to do an emergency replacement on a set of basketball hoops that were damaged the week before and the new ones had just arrived... with a pivotal game scheduled for that evening. We showed up, took down the old hardware all the way to the rafters and started to install the new ones (after driving 3 hours to get there). When we finished the second set, the teams were warming up on the first one and the fans were filling the auditorium. We picked up the last tools and protective plywood from the floor 10 minutes before game time (after checking the operation of the swinging arms/backboards and made sure everything worked as they should). Then the three of us each grabbed a ball and took a shot from the sidelines as we walked off the floor. All three went in, and the crowd did go wild. It was a good drive back home that night. Late, but good.

Extra Credit Question:
The following inspired by a suggestion from our own Elston

Is it stuffing or dressing ?

Around here it is "stuffing"

Do you make it the same as your mother did or use your own recipe ?

I make mine kind of like Mom's, but with a minor change here and there.

Do you add any of the following:
Dry Bread ?
Crackers ?
Corn Bread ?
Mashed Potato ?
Mushrooms?
Oysters?
Chestnuts?
Other ?

Yes to all, depending on the style we are in the mood for. We tend to eat Turkey throughout the year, so we'll have a big bird 6 or 7 times a year. Plenty of times to try different things.

Bonus Question:
Oops !Has anyone ever left the "little bag 0' stuff" inside by mistake and cooked the turkey that way?

Yep, 1st one I did when I was out on my own.

Speaking of the little "bag 0' stuff" inside:
Do you use the turkey gizzard, liver, heart, neck that you find inside the "little bag 0' stuff" ?

Liver and Heart I use

If so how ?
As Northern Pike or Musky bait out fishing . I wouldn't eat them myself.

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite:
Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine ?
Pepsi
Pop Tart Flavor ? Brown sugar without frosting
Cereal topper ? fresh strawberries
Toast topper ? Peanut butter and jelly.
