The other day I asked my mother who is almost 89 years young what the greatest invention has been in her lifetime. Thinking she would said something really profound, she said hairspray I thought was really funny. For me I think it's the microwave. I cook almost everything in it, I have two and don't know how I got along without one. So what would you say is the greatest thing that has been invented in your life?

My first choice is ~ fire. http://www.airamericaplace.com/boards/style_emoticons/default/scratchhead.gif (broken link) However after that I jump forward in history to the telephone because that brought about the transistor which brought about solidstate technology and from there it lead to everything that is made in our times of today that we can’t live without.
