I once read a passage in an Eastern Philosophy book, with the recommendation, that the preferred position for sleeping, is to sleep with your head pointed east.

Myself, I haven't seen any real measurable difference in my sleep, no matter which direction I'm "headed".

Has anyone discovered any difference in your sleep patterns, whichever direction you're "headed" at night?

I used to sleep "headed" north, until I bought a new bed, and rearranged my bedroom so I've been sleeping "headed" west for some time now and it's hard to measure, but I do sleep a little better, but that could be attributed to my new bed, more comfortable.

I don't know if I have any directional issues with sleeping, but I know I have trouble falling asleep if my head is pointed towards a door.

Im grateful to get a decent nights sleep of 6 hours anymore with no chance of naps during the day. One day Im gonna just take off somewhere for a week and do nothing but sleep and relax.

I don't lend much credence to eastern philosophy. Maybe if I could read it while sleeping...

I sleep better with my head pointing North or South than East or West. But I think that those are individual preferences. More important seems to be the quality of the mattress, the noise level, darkness, room temperature. Some people feel insecure/uncomfortable when sleeping/sitting with the head/back pointing the door.

I wonder if this has anything to do with why Christian/Catholic tombstones also face East because they don't want to miss Jesus' return....as if you would miss if if you were facing the wrong way.

Never gave it a thought so I don't think it matters a tittle or a jot which direction my head points. I sleep until my bladder says, "Empty me or I'm going to empty myself" so I never sleep through the night anyway.

No. I've always just made sure my side of the bed was closest to the bathroom regardless of which direction my head is facing.
