I felt the same way. What allows them to turn this so called feature on? That means that it is OFF until they want it on! Was this a slip of the tongue?

I recall that about a year or so ago someone was caught cheating. The story went like this: The lotto person told his friend to go buy 1,000 tickets at a certain place, like Circle K. The person then went there and bought the tickets and won. The sale of 1,000 tickets alerted someone else that this was not an ordinary sale. The people were arrested, but I never heard what happened. What struck me about this story was that the lotto person could tell anyone which retailer to go to before the drawing! If he/she knows where the winning ticket will be purchased, what else do they know? Doesn't that seem strange that they would know where the ticket will be sold?

I think that the answer that I received from the lotto commission told us a little more than we were supposed to know!!!

I remember something about that also. However I don’t recall all of the details. Az Lotto is NOT a state agency, it is a private business operating within the state and under some of their guidelines. So who controls what is or isn’t happening there? Who monitors their business?

I don't know who watches over the lotto, but I feel less likely to play now. I don't trust the system anymore. I saved the letter from them just in case I decide to look into the matter. I would write an editorial in our local paper, but my wife has a position in her employment that negates writing opinion letters to the paper.

That reminds me of the scene from the movie Blazing Saddles - "Next man makes a move..."

Next Spammer makes a move.. the dawg gets it!

I'm not a gambler, but once in a great while, I'll buy a lottery ticket, and that's only when either the jackpot in the state or Powerball lottery is way up there.

Occaisionally one of us will buy a scratcher or a quick pick on the Calif Lotto, but other than that we dont spend our entire paychecks on that type of gamble. I remember a few years back that guy (in Arizona, of all places) who took a 2nd on his house because he thought he would have a really good chance at winning 90 million....remember that on the news? All he won out of all those thousands of tickets he bought was about $300 total.
However, a couple of years ago my daughter, who worked for a convenience store, had some good luck with a scratcher. a customer came in, bought one of those $10 scratchers, and just because she accidently ripped a tiny portion of the barcode, he got angry with her and demanded another one. She ended up buying that ticket, which really was still good, nothing wrong with it. And it turned out to be a hundred dollar winner!

Those "prediction" softwares are nothing more than a scam because there is no way for them to predict the outcome of random numbers. You have an equal chance predicting the numbers yourself than using one of those programs because each number in the lotto has an equal chance of being randomly drawn, thus there is no way of predicting a "winning" pattern because there are none.

I used to play more than I do now. They added another number which sent the odds to the extreme level. Now I play poker and Blackjack until the lottery gets big then I buy a few.

Cards are a lot more entertaining. And even if the win is smaller at least I have a chance.
