Default Today's Tip ~ Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Yes, we have no bananas, we have
no bananas today.... Remember that song, kids? But I digress.......

Scroll on down for Today's short and sweet Tip!

PEELING A BANANA

Don't you just hate it when you peel a banana and get all those little, sticky strings? They stick to your fingers; they break off; they look kind of nasty. Well, fret no more! If you peel the banana from the BOTTOM up instead of from the top down, you won't get those loose strings.

I've put this Tip to the test, and it works great! Once in a while, I'll get one little piece of string, but that's it.

Okay, I already know I made a typo on the date. I'll DM a mod and see if I can get it corrected!

Great tip, Pam! Now, do you know how I can keep my bananas fresh longer without going brown as I cannot stand those brown spots?

Sorry, I don't know how to keep bananas fresh longer than just the usual shelf life. I know you're not supposed to refrigerate them because that makes 'em turn black. I don't mind brown spots on bananas and even some blackening - gives 'em character!

I remember trying this some time ago. Forget where I saw it demonstrated. I can't get of mind the obvious convenient pull stem on the other end. Yes...old dog new trick!

Oh^^ Pam I heard not long ago if they're ripe stick em in the fridge. Although the skin turns black the flesh will stay good longer.

This site may help you with the browning part...How to Keep Bananas From Turning Brown in Pie | eHow.com

Though I find eating them real fast after peeling keeps them from turning...

Eating bananas upside down gives me a headache when all the blood rushes there; I tend to get dizzy and then fall over on the floor. Isn’t there any better idea on how to keep those loose strings from getting on your fingers?
