I'm a redneck. I prefer Hick (it's more northern than redneck), but when it all boils down to it, they are about the same. Give me the rednecks anyday over the uptight, HOA-loving, SUV-driving, far-from-nature urbanites!

Just to prove it, here's my favorite picture of my nephew....(even right down to the WalWart shopping cart in the back!)

My buddy in TN is a redneck...and there is no doubt about it!
His front yard has a junk car "parked" on it, with a tree growing out of the hood...
I wish I had taken pic's...huh.

A redneck is not as you say on some of these posts although I have not read all of them. To understand what a redneck is, check the dictionary or possibly Wikipedia.

My definition of a redneck is:

1. Mostly someone who is ignorant and naive most of the time, does live in the south or a rural area around the country. This means anywhere in the U.S. in rural parts (even here in Arizona and some parts of California).

It's just a very ignorant white person who can barely afford to care for themseelves and others who live with them.

Default What is a redneck?

I explained it to my children like this: It's someone who doesn't know any better and they are PROUD of it.

My husband (who I am sep fr) is a redneck with a redneck truck. He tried to teach my son to be a redneck, while I taught him to be refined, as much as I could, with the redneck influence...LOL

So many different things about rednecks, and so many different levels of redneck imo...

From Wikipedia:

Redneck, in modern usage, predominantly refers to a particular stereotype of white people who may be found in many regions of the United States. Originally limited to the Appalachians , and later the Ozarks and Rocky Mountains, this stereotype is now widespread in northern states. The word can be used either as a pejorative or as a matter of pride.
