Hi folks, happy Sunday. Hope everyone remembered to set your clock ahead an hour!

Since it's Sunday, I thought this would be appropriate. Didja know........

The pilgrims in Massachusetts used a special tool in church, a wooden ball attached to a long string on a stick. If anyone fell alseep during a sermon (which might go on for seven or eight hours) a specially appointed member of the clergy would hoist the pole over the reprobate's head and clop him with the wooden ball???

Owwchie!!!

And they were in services pretty much all day Sunday.

I'm just resting my eyes.

Well that’s better than what they did to the Indians years later if they didn’t attend church services.

Being I spent 12 years in Catholic parochial schools (why am I telling you this, you've probably already figured that out!) and went to church also on Sundays, guilt was just as effective.

Sitting next to my mother in Church on Sunday, occasionally looking over her shoulders to make sure I was paying attention to the sermon, if I wasn't she'd poke me with her elbow, followed by an after-Mass warning about the ramifications of not listening to the words of God.

Guilt or getting knocked over the head? Knock-knock-knock! I'll take it, I'll take it!

Where were the meth dealers outside Pilgrim churches when you needed them!

Wew too funny I didn't know, but I think they aught to reinstate the practice I would imagine that would wake things up quite a bit.

Oh the joys of sitting on a hard pew and just listening for a couple of hours. . I don't have that luxury. I have to stand up and talk for a couple of hours and try to keep the people awake. Actually being a former Race Chaplain I have learned to preach at 250 words a min with gusts to 300. I'm never longer than 25 min.
