Just remembered. We stayed a night on the Queen Mary on Long Beach many moons ago and I realised when I was north of LA that I'd left a jacket behind the door on the hook.

We booked into somewhere in Monterey for two or three nights, rang the QM and they kindly sent the jacket to the forwarding address, namely that hotel.

I make lists and start packing a few days in advance and then check each item off the list. I have left a jacket in a hotel room once though.

I remember my own things most of the time, but my children forget theirs. At least I don't forget the children. Rest assured, THEY would be returned!
too funny (about the kids), I used to wish someone would offer me money for my siblings and then I had my own and I thought about offering someone money to take them Of course those r passing thoughts we would never act upon

One time I forgot a pair of boots, called the motel 2 days later, they said they had them in their lost and found and they mailed them to me.
Another time spouse left an important item at the hotel, we were about 30 minutes out, returned and retrieved it.
Generally we have a check list that we use everytime we travel.

Thankfully I havent really forgotten anything too important, that a persoon couldnt pick up at a local Walgreens or something. Contact lens fluid, conditioner, whatever. I pack my electronic necessities (camera, batteries, cellphone charger) before packing clothes, lol.
