That is NOT true, you need a valid drivers license (your country) and a valid credit card for the deposit.
Years back in time (before I married, got green card etc.), I rented a car in Orlando with my Canadian drivers and a credit card.
Never mind, you said lease and I meant rent....hey you can rent cars!!!!

You should have official paperwork as a international student, this should not be a limiting factor. Do you have the acceptance or sponsorship paper worK?

I was international student, now, I am a permanent resident. But to make story short, you shouldn't lease or rent a car, because if your coordinator finds out, you'll be in BIG trouble, and you can get departed. Try to go by public transport if you have to or something like that. I know some students who were departed because of a mistake like that...

Ahmed, I was an international student a year ago, and this information that I gave is very true. My coordinator wouldn't lie to me. Plus, we got a booklet with all these informations. And all the people ( foreigners ) I KNOW including MYSLEF COULDN'T GET SOCIAL SECURITY WITHOUT being at least PERMANENT RESIDENT ( it takes time to become a Citizen ).
If you can lease a car, good for you.

Additionally, THE REASON WHY THEY DON'T WANT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO LEASE OR HAVE A CAR IS BECAUSE THE AGENCY WHO BROUGHT YOU HERE, OR IF YOU CAME HERE "BY YOURSELF", THE LEASING COMPANY AS WELL AS THE AGENCY DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU. NOT ONLY THAT, THEY WANT YOU TO FOCUS ON YOUR STUDYING, NOT GOING OUT.
