The solution Jezer is not to take vacations...so that you don't have that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach, knowing that work is just around the corner...Actually, it's kind of a real downer feeling thinking about it. Thanks man...great peeve.
There's a thought-provoking formula I read once about travel. If you go away for a week, you multiply that by 3, and that's the projected recovery time from your vacation. Go away a month, it'll take 3 months to fully recover.
The longest vacation I ever took was 2 months. And there's some substance to this theory, as I don't do long vacations any more, due to the long recovery time.
There's another one that says you need up to a week to wind down and relax from your daily grind so it's only after that that you're getting the full benefit of your vacation.
One noticable aspect about living and working in the US is the shorter vacation times you get compared to the UK, so that may well also have much to do with things.
