In addition, if you go to a feed store and get a large syringe with a long needle you can fill it with vegetable oil and it will make it easier to get into tight or hard to get to spaces.
oh and some thing are interchangeable but don't use WD-40 in your salad dressings.
I knew I would find a few cooking Pam skulkers on here, and it doesn't surprise me that you tried this. Glad to know Pam (that is the sprayable stuff does not replace WD 40).
I load my hinges with grease. WD40 is a water displacer invented for the aerospace industry. (The 40 stands for the number of times it took to get the product right.) Your hindges squeak because of the metal to metal action within the hindge. Using a grease which is heavier than a oil or oil based product will last longer. Still with what ever you spray make it a normal part of your monthly or yearly home maintenance program.
That's a really great thing to know!!Thanks. Now I can display my "technical" WD40 knowledge, thanks to you...

Use vegetable oil for lubricating non-essential mechanical things like hinges, tools, etc. A light coat of oil will keep tools from rusting, and you don't need to buy expensive and toxic chemicals like WD-40.
It makes me smile real big to think of you, a bottle of oil and a pair of rubber gloves ha ha j/k those tips could raise some eye brows
