Have you or anyone in your family served in the Military ? Yes, in previous generations - certainly my father and my grandfather.
If so which branch ? My grandfather was in the British Navy in WWI, and my father was in the Marines during the last few months of WWII.
Is there a Memorial Day celebration in your town today ? No, Australia's equivalent day is April 25 - ANZAC DAY.
What are your plans for today ? My Monday is just about finished - just did a bit of housework, pottered around, made a few phone calls. A day just like most days!

List 3 things that have you saying "I just don't "get it""
1. The need for some people to be constantly having text 'conversations' - just call each other up for heaven's sake... no need to send 20 text messages back and forth just to arrange a meeting place!
2. People who have no interest in travelling, especially those with no interest at all in seeing any part of the rest of the world.
3. People like my dad who believe that just because they don't want something, other people shouldn't have it. eg my dad doesn't approve of the internet, therefore he believes it should be 'cancelled' (his word) LOL

1. The "Puffed" Cheetos! I HATE them! I bought some yesterday, accidentally - thinking I had a bag of the great crunchy ones in my hand. I didn't have my glasses on & all I saw was that it said "Cheetos" on it.  I might take them back, too.
2. Blasting loud garbage Rap music in those cars, with all the F-this and F-that every line. It's GARBAGE. It's TALENTLESS.
3. People continuing to dring that "Muscle Milk" poison (see Food Forum today) after they've been told that it contains high volumes of LEAD!

A bit of personal history about today. 46 years ago today this was to be my first day off from 7 day work weeks for many weeks. No plans but to sleep in and chill. Instead about 5AM my wife shakes me in bed to tell me her water had broke. I ask with one eye open "so what?" She says I'm in labor and am going to have this baby. For some reason home alone I was up at 5 this morning with nothing to do.

Washington DC is one town where Memorial Day is more than an excuse for a 3-day mattress sale. Thousands and thousands of vets are in town right now to visit the memorials and Arlington Cemetery. We have motorcycle rallies, parades, concerts, fireworks, readings, community BBQs, 10-Ks, you name it. This
