I'm with Charley and MBW. A gift to charity in the couple's honor is a lovely idea.

You could try something I did for my parents' 65th anniversary. I went to a college library about 20 miles from here. They have old newspapers on microfilm, so I went back to 1946, found my parents' engagement announcement and then scrolled forward and found the wedding "write up". I printed those out and we put them on the board for everyone to read. I also found my mother's birth announcement in the paper from 1922!
I know you wouldn't put them on a board for them but maybe put them in a card as your gift. Something they and their children would cherish for years and it wouldn't cost that much.

Aw shucks. And here I wanted a new pick 'em up truck equipped for towing. Being it is equipped for towing a 25' or so Boston Whaler with cabin would be fine. Oh, and can you throw in a slide in camper for shacking between ports of call?

For my parents 50th we rented a limo and took them on a drive down memory lane . We went by their birth homes, schools, first date, church they got married at, etc... Then we went out to dinner , then we went to a professional photographer studio and had a family portrait taken. They loved it!

I'm hoping for an anniversary ring and maybe a rolling condo. Are you listening Nomad?

Don't want to spoil your fun guys, but this was a thread I started two years ago! I ended up buying them a CD with songs from the year of their marriage (1961), a bottle of New Zealand wine (from a Kiwi) and two hand-painted glasses in a decorative basket. They liked it.

For our 50th, we ran away and celebrated alone at our favorite vacation place! Yes, we're odd-balls.

We were going to give a party, but dragged our feet on that idea. Then the kids were going to give us a party, and we nixed that. I told them when we have our 55th, we'll have a BLOW OUT! That's next year.

I say, NO to all of the previous ideas, but that's just us. Everybody has their own idea of what would be best depending upon the recipient. We'll just have a big party with no gifts, and invite all our cherished friends and family. We'll have a live band, plenty of food and drink and lots of dancing! No videos of days gone by, no spokesman droning on about the past, no sentimental tears.....This is the Future and we've still got a business to run, and lots of fun to be had!

That's OK. I was thinking more on the lines of a "Trolling Motor".
