News, Man Struck By Lightning Getting Out Of Shower.
LIVERMORE, Maine -- A 30-year-old Livermore man was hospitalized after being struck by lightning while getting out of the shower at his home.
Christian Hussey was getting out of the shower and had his hand on the faucet at about 8 p.m. Thursday when lightning struck his house and made its way through the water pipes. Livermore Fire Chief Donald Castonguay said Hussey received a jolt when the lightning made its way to the faucet.

You know, its funny you mention that because when we wire a house, we're supposed to run a ground wire to the gas lines and the water line. And now you know why I prefer not taking my shower during a storm, much less, if theres lightning going on outside.

OUCH.. I bet that JOLTED him out of the shower!
When I was 17, in August of 1974, which is the monsoon season here in Phoenix, I was inside the house and I started to hear thunder in the distance. I used to leave both windows of the car I drove back then open to keep the interior a little "cooler", because if you park your car in the hot summer sun all day in Phoenix, with the windows closed, you might suffer second degree burns when you touch the steering wheel! I went outside to close the windows and I could hear the thunderstorm approaching, and just as I got back into the house and closed the door, I heard this loud BOOM outside. Lightning struck a tall Silk Oak tree my parents had in the front yard at the time, and my car was parked under it. I was very fortunate because I was under that tree less than 10 seconds earlier before I ran back into the house. I also knew back then that the Lord led me to safety just in time before the lightning hit.

Though Ive never personally experienced it, one of the guys at work told me that if you feel your hairs on your arms or on your head are standing up, lightning will hit very close. Take cover! Something about the electrical current.
I tend to believe this because sometimes when we're standing close to a mega-voltage transformer, I can feel/see the hairs on my arms stand up.

The hair on my head? But.. But... I don't have any!
I know, I heard that too Power Surge, and the best thing to do is lay flat on the ground on your stomach to avoid being the highest point in an area where lightning is about to strike, and definitely don't take cover under a tree.
boycew0 - Thanks.

Don't talk on the phone, don't take a shower and if you're that one woman who has been nailed repeatedly through-out her life, do not do laundry during a storm.
