Default Better to regret Doing than Not Doing? Rather Fail Trying or Never bother trying?

Think ahead to when you're very old..

Would you rather look back in life regretting missed opportunities?

Or would you rather look back in life regretting what you tried (but failed miserably)?

In general, I would rather regret doing something than regret never having done something although I don't have the time/resources/etc. to do everything I want.. so at least for my dreams and major goals, I'd rather try and fail miserably even if I know I have a slim (but higher than 0%) chance of success.

Based on my experiences, if you try hard enough at something (really anything) then chances are you will very likely get closer to succeeding at it than if you had never tried at all.

Besides that, working hard in any endeavor helps you develop a work ethic and teaches you skills and other things which you can very often apply to other endeavors to greater success.

The English Dave family motto. It is on the family shield in latin.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED - GIVE UP.

I want to try and do as much as I can/want in life. I don't want any regrets. I look at mistakes as learning lessons and move on. I want to look back on my life and say "it was good and I had a lot of fun getting here"

I don't want a litany of "I wish I had done_____________" when I near the end of this incarnation.

I would rather be able to say that yes, I made mistakes, had my heart broken and caught hell from time to time, but I learned something from each experience and had one hell of a good time!

Life's too short to sit on the bench and watch everybody else dance.

I think "the grass is always greener" -what I mean by that it is easy to regret the path u chose to take. Especially if that path was overly burdensome. Troubles and challenges make it easy to romanticize the path u "NOT" taken. Only "IF"... The longer I live the more I realize regrets and discontentment are part of the human struggle no matter what path u travel. I am not sure if I would rather try and fail. Having failed allot I am inclined to think I would prefer not to try in some instances.

I take a lot of risks in my life - no regrets yet. The only exception is love - Ive learned to be much more careful.

I like what sunqueen said in her other post, "life is a teacher". We allow life to teach us all good and bad things, to take opportunities to learn and to fail. I'm not saying what people (mostly young people) are thinking what it is, "life is about having fun" or something along that line. I might be off, forgive me. IMO this is one of the very best way to grow but we can allow hinder ourselves from growing. Sometimes I tell myself that I regret certain things and I hate it because I'm such a "perfectionist". However, I can't grieve over the past.

I avoid regret all together by accepting that what I am doing right now is what I want to do.
